I have to admit that I'm probably like a lot of others rooting for whatever could POSSIBLY happen to help the Steelers get back into the chase (trying to keep the season at least mildly interesting for at least the first half of the season) notwithstanding the fact that pretty much the worst fears of the message board for the last couple of years on offense, defense, special teams, and coaching are unfolding before our eyes, in different measures, on a weekly basis.

So as I was tuning in to see our division foes hopefully lose (even though hoping against hope that your team can be the least awful of a sorry lot is hardly inspirational) it hurt perhaps a bit more to see the Ravens and Bengals make the plays they needed to make at the end to get their W's and even though they might not have looked great, have enough spark and excitement to get the job done. Interestingly, the Bengals got some help from Mother Nature at the end of the game as a deluge fell on Tom Brady during the last drive....and I don't care what the situation is, who doesn't like to see that?.... And the Ravens got some help from the dolphins at the end.....I guess the steelers aren't the only team that think they need to clock the ball with over a minute on the outskirts of field goal range. It's as though the team is so surprised the last play worked, they have absolutely no idea what to do next. Aren't chances to advance more important than the clock when you have over a minute to play and the defense is on their heels? I don't get it, and neither did the dolphins at the end.

in the final analysis, the steelers will still have to win a game to keep things remotely interesting. Having 2 weeks to prepare for a team that is in turmoil themselves and will be on a SHORT week after a Monday night game ironically could provide the advantage we're looking for. In going back and watching some of the carnage I missed while traveling, there's enough positive there to hope we can string a couple of wins. The problem, however, this year doesn't boil down to one thing in these games, and you can't really say, 'if it just weren't for those 6 really bad plays, we win that game.' I mean, in the Bears game Bens fumbles were so exotic as to be almost artful....in a cut off your ear sort of way. So even though I'll keep rooting for the teams above us to lose....which is everyone now....if they can show us something against the jets, the opportunities to get back in the chase will take care of themselves. There's enough mediocrity in the league to guarantee it....case in point, at the time of this writing the Texans are down 21-0.

Of course, the big fear really has to be the Pirates. Since 2010, the better they do, the worse we do. We may not win a game if they take the World Series. That being said....GO BUCS!!!!

Face reality. There is no "getting back in the game". Do you see how good the Bengals and the Browns defense is now? We have no playmakers on offense or defense. We can't put any pressure on opposing QB's. We have no run game. Our offensive line is worthless. Our Qb plays like a scared rookie. When they do catch a pass our midget receivers fall down. Our head coach is more worried about looking cool on the sideline than actually than coaching. Did I forget anything? If we win four games this year we will be lucky. The front office really let this team slip away.

I'm not sure how a 2-2 team is a team in turmoil. Their offense is just average, but their defense is pretty solid. Even at average offensively they're better than we are and their defense is giving up fewer points per game. If there's a team in turmoil in that match up I wouldn't say it's the Jets

I visit this Board everyday and it has gone completely negative. Com'on guys win or loose support your team. It's easy to throw them under the Bus. (sorry Jerome) I can see it during games when emotions are high and the frustration sets in but after we need to find answers.

We dont need to find answers...the team, coaches, owners, etc. need to find answers and have yet to do that for the past two seasons. I dont think anyone on here has stopped supporting the team, but its getting hard to come up with anything positive to say. If this team does not come out of the bye with any kind of improvement, we are in BIG trouble and will be hard pressed to win a single game.

we have a DC who should've retired 2 years ago,,,but lets keep sending the same cross blitz that never works, and lets keep giving their receivers a 20 yard cushion

Quite honestly, I don't remember that last "dominate" performance by our defense. It has been an extremely long time...

At this point we have nothing to lose if we simply just went away from our tendencies. Translation (same sh*t every time) .We may be able to surprise a few teams. It's doubtful because we seem to be very stubborn to any kind of change,on both sides of the ball.

I hate to make the comparison but it reminds me another once great franchise which was set in its' ways and refused to get with the times, the raiders, and look how that worked out for them.

Actually, the Steelers can turn everything around if they just stop turning the ball over on offense.

There are plenty of other issues that need to be addressed. However, if they make this one correction, immediately, then they will be able to stack some wins while addressing the other issues.

Your point is well taken. No question WE'RE in turmoil. Watching the Jets in the first half of the Falcons game, it looks like Ryan has 'em ready to play and Geno Smith is firing on all cylinders. They may yet lose, but it's not the same team that turned the ball over 30 times in one game (or something like that) with Sanchez at the helm....

You got that right. I think a some of them must be trash talkers who have now turned to talking trash about their own team since they no longer can dish it out to anyone else.

A lot of teams are very inconsistent this year. This is the same Jets team that lost to the Titans 38-13 last week, turning the ball over 4 times.

I thought the ball boys have been doing a wonderful job on the sidelines. That is just my opinion and I'm sure someone can find something to complain about them also!

Agreed but we need to start creating some turnovers on defense too. Our turnover differential is pathetic. Get that straightened out and the team will look completely different IMO.
