I think if they have a record of 10-5-1, they are just about guaranteed to get in. If they go 9-6-1, then they will need help to get in. If they come out of the bye week and win the next two games against the Browns and Ravens, then I like their chances to get to 10 wins :herewego!:. A few stats the Steelers are 9-1-1 in their last 11 road games, also 17-3 in Dec/Jan regular season games since 2013. They tend to play better as the season winds down .

Even if we get in we might be 1 & done because we either gonna play Jacksonville, KC, or the Patriots. Chargers will be hard to beat too...

I think if they won there next 2 against Cleveland and Baltimore they have a good shot..if they get swept by Baltimore the division is prob over. But a long shot of getting to the super Bowl with the pats chargers and chiefs and if the Jags made it don't see then beating them either

Play tough defense, and continue to run the ball.

I feel that tie(loss) might be a detriment. 11-5-1 would be more in my comfort zone.

That is 17 games. Only way they could do that is win a playoff game. You mean 11-4-1... which is not likely to happen since Steelers still have to play Patriots, Saints, Jaguars and Raiders in Oakland.

The math involved in breaking down the number 16 seems to be a struggle on this board.:thumbs__down:

    That's why I don't even try it.;+)

I think the problem started in the 60s when they started teaching “New Math”.

I know our history playing in Oakland sucks. I just cant see losing to them this time around. That Oakland team is horrible.

Yeah, but the last 2 Oakland teams Steelers lost to in '12 & '13 were horrible, too. The Raiders were actually legit in '15 when we beat them at Heinz Field.

I don't trust Tomlin at all with the upcoming Raiders game.

The Steelers tend to play down to the level of terrible teams. Hopefully (but not likely) the Steelers won't look past the Raiders.

At 10-5-1, the Steelers will almost certainly make the playoffs, they'd probably win the division. To get to 10-5-1 then have to go 7-3 the rest of the way, more than likely this would give Bal and Cin another loss, someone would lose when Bal/Cin play each other.

At 9-6-1, they probably make the playoffs. They beat out any 9-7 teams. They only way they'd get squeezed out is if Cin and Balt both go 10-6 or better and the Steelers finish 3rd. And lose out to a 10-6 Chargers team that finishes behind KC. It can happen but a lot of teams have to win more games than I think they will.

8-7-1? Forget it. And given that record would be a disappointment, and likely means a lot of road losses. if they managed to sneak in at 8-7-1, theyd be going to Jax or Balt for a WC game, and then to KC or NE afterward. Not looking good.

Got a strange feeling this could be a .500 year missing out on the playoffs but this will be the year we kick the Patriots ass with the highlight of the season our D-line sacking Brady 3-4 times.

Well we started 2-6 a few years back and ended 8-8 with a much worse squad... I think we can finish the year strong and get to 10 wins. We have some tough games, but I think we will win our fair share of those. It’s all going to boil down to taking care of business within the division the rest of the way and taking a few games from the Pats, Jags, Saints, and Chargers.
