    If the defense continues to play like it did today against a struggling offense like the Raiders and they can't get off the field on 3rd downs. We still have to face much better qb's than Palmer and they couldn't stop him. Troy is a shell of his former self and Harrison who knows what kind of production you will get from him, I'm not expecting much. Also the Steelers already have 2 conference losses.

    ...and if you're right and they do have an off year at 8-8 or 9-7, so what?
    Think about it. Most teams in the NFL would LOVE for their 'off years' to be 8-8 or 9-7.

    What peeves me (and I guess the other guys ranting) is not losing games. it's how some games are lost (this year against OAK, the WC game against DEN, the opening game last season against BAL, etc.).

    I can (grudingly) live with it when the Steelers play lights out but just get beaten by a team that just was that tiny bit better and made one or two plays that our guys couldn't make.
    What I can't live with it is a bad performance filled with mental mistakes (all those penalties, the fumbles) and bad execution/play calling (for crying out loud, we're happy with offensive play calling but bitching about defensive, what did the world come to?)

    Yeah I agree with you. No one on here is expecting us to be undefeated every season, but the issues that are causing us to lose (defense) have been glaringly obvious for YEARS yet we dont address them. I mean who honestly thought that replacing Gay with Lewis was an upgrade?? He is horrible! And to go out there with the same game plan against Carson Palmer who is so familiar with our D, is ridiculous.

    I see us as an optomistic 8-8 possbily 7-9, 6-10

    PHI - W (50/50 chance, they don't play well after a bye)
    @CIN L
    WAS W
    @ GIANTS L
    KC W
    BALT L
    @ CLE W (wouldn't be surprised if this is a L after the beating they will take from BALT)
    @BALT L
    SD W (see CLE note above)
    @ DAL L
    CIN W
    CLE W

    I think the Steelers will go 12-4 or 11-5. It's not unreasonable. There are times the team starts slow, and then picks up steam.

    Let's keep the faith, people! :herewego:

    The only thing CERTAIN is that we will be 1-3 or 2-2 after week 5. Predict all you want, but I'll bet my house that my prediction will be correct.

    The only thing I want is for Mundy and Lebeau to retire. I would cut Mundy today, he's the worst player in the nfl, besides our entire OL except Pouncey.

    You better hope they don't tie or you will be living in a van down by the river.

    Meh. Is it really that shocking that we lost this game? I posted our west coast numbers on here the other day. Even in our glory days we played horribly on the west coast. At first glance of the schedule back in April, 1-2 was FAR from being an unrealistic guess for where we would be right now. It's certainly not time to hit the panic button.

    Thats totally unexceptable. Thats why they would have a record like that because they don't expect much. Now Steeler Nation expects much more from their team. Looks like we won't get it this year and plenty of people will be pissed off as rightfully so.

    So as stated, this team doesn't look like it will win many more games then 8 or make the playoffs! We got 13 left to win 7 games. As I see it, we won't beat two of the teams in our division, the Ravens or Bengals, we won't beat any of the teams in the NFC East, Giants, Cowboys, Eagles, or Redskins. That would mean we have 10 loses this year or better. Infect, I don't see us beating Tennessee, KC, or the Chargers. If thats the case, we only beat the Clowns just barely or one of the three previously mentioned teams.

    Its a sad day in Steeler Nation.

    Guys, I hate to be the eternal pessimist here, but this season could spiral out of control if we don't start getting pressure on the QB, stopping the run, getting off the field on 3rd down and making some splash plays on defense. We also must establish some semblance of a running game and the OL play must improve (how many years have we been saying that?). If we continue to have the kinds of issues we've had through the first 3 games, this is how I see the rest of the season going:
    Philadelphia LOSS
    @ Tenn WIN
    @ Cin LOSS
    Washington WIN
    @NYG LOSS
    KC WIN
    Balt LOSS
    @ Cleve WIN
    @ Balt LOSS
    San Diego WIN
    @ Dallas LOSS
    Cin WIN
    Cleve WIN
    Record 8-8

    Quite honestly, the game at Tennessee and the San Diego game I have questions about. If they were to lose these games we could be 6-10. Losses have a way of snowballing and if we start piling up losses the team will become demoralized and lose confidence and who knows what will happen. Another troubling aspect of this team is the apparent lack of leadership, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Aaron Smith is gone. James Farrior is gone. On the offensive side of the ball, Hines Ward is gone. All of these guys were great leaders on the field and in the clubhouse. I'm not sure we have that at this point. I hope we can right the ship fast but we've got some serious work to do. The schedule is not as easy as some we've had in the recent past and when we find ways to lose to inferior teams like we did Sunday we've got serious issues to contend with. Even though I've painted a worst case scenario situation above, I remain hopeful that DL can recapture some of his lost magic and get the defense back on track and that we can establish a running game and patch together some decent performances from a pathetic OL to be able to contend.

    The Steelers will beat the Giants and at least split with the Ravens. Also, I think they can sweep Cincy. I call 11-5 on average, 10-6 worst, 12-4 best. :herewego:

    12-4 was my prediction before the season started. We've now lost 2 that I called wins.

    10-6? Might squeak in the playoffs with that. To even hope for better, we need to see a ton of improvement.

    Giants will destroy us, I never call out my own team like that but that is not a good match up for us. We better improve greatly before that game.
