The Steelers should make the trade for Justin Fields

They only have one QB on the roster in Russell Wilson, they can probably get Fields for some mid round picks.

 

Anything's possible from what we're seeing. The Steelers ain't BSin this year.

So essentially trade for Fields and then exercise the fifth year option?! Sounds like a plan for sure. Quite a bit of restructuring to do; Alex Highsmiths namely. Could also extend Cameron Heyward as well.

 

They dont have to pay the option if they think his value to re-sign is less than that 25 million. It seems pretty apparent that his value is less than the 5th year option.... Idk. I wouldn't say the option is set in stone, especially if we get him for like a 5th round pick.

 

I don't disagree, I was just pointing out that they had options based on the market for Fields. This definitely signals that they are sold on Wilson being good for more than one year. If that's the case bring in a decent back up option and maybe draft a developmental back up. Dobbs and Tannehill are both available. Garroppolo and Huntley are too. We aren't option-less.

 

I would pass on Fields and bring in Tannehill. Use one of the late round picks on a rookie like Sam Hartman.

I would rather get Joe Milton for a 3rd/4th over Fields.

This is one of the qbs i agree on. If we can get him cheap. He can help the other qbs with Smiths offense

 

There is no way Wilson thinks he is going to be our franchise qb. Yes, Wilson is maybe a 1 or 2 yr band aid, but hopefully our other qbs learn from Wilson

How abt letting them compete for the job? RW is gonna get his $$$ no matter what this year...JF can and has made plays in the past. He hasn't had much talent around him since he has been in the league.. thats including players and coaches... trade for him and may the besT QB win
