It was so stacked we went 6 - 10 the year before . Please. Sorry, but I get so tired of hearing that about how great that team was....before Ben got there....I was watching....I don't see many great teams go 6 ,and 10 .
Guess You forgot it was in a freaking Hurricane that Miami game. The other Qb barely threw for over 100 yards it was so bad.

Dang, I agree with SDOT, somewhat. I think I will stop by the blue tent and get checked out; I might have a concussion.

I been trying 2 tell everyone this is how it would go, but all I got was laughs. Mason will be Number 2 if Trubisky fails ,and the next week Pickett comes in. They have enough faith in what He knows that they want Him as backup.

Maybe the Steelers made a mistake in not drafting Malik Willis. He was named the top rookie in pre-season action and is the backup quarterback in Tennessee behind Tannehill. Pickett is 3rd string and may be headed to the practice squad if he can clear waivers.

Except that having Pickett listed as number 3 won’t stop fans from chanting his name anytime Trubisky struggles. Tomlin doesn’t need a security blanket to not give into the fans so it really makes no sense to have him at #3. If that is for real, I can’t imagine that lasting more than a couple games before he moves to #2. Like I said, can’t develop him as the #3.

I think the truth lies closer to what another poster said about trying to acquire a better draft pick by saying this is our #2 QB.

Give it up. I said they wouldn't trade Him , and everyone laughed, and I said No matter who is number one ....He would be the backup.....and everyone laughed. It's not hard....they want the most experience on this team as their backup. For emergency. Just like I said. It's no biggie. I will bet money if Pickett ends up starting....Mason will still be the back up.
Also He(Pickett)will still get reps , and run the scout team.

There may be a reason for it and trying to increase Rudolph’s trade value could be part of it. But I’m not sure I trust Tomlin to develop a young, promising quarterback. He’s never had to do that before unless you count MR as being in that category. If that’s the case, he may have contributed to Rudolph falling short of his potential. I’m not sure Tomlin knows what to do with his shiny new toy but I agree that his development will be stunted big time if he languishes at number three on the depth chart. This better not last long or Tomlin will need to explain himself. Pickett is CLEARLY a better quarterback than Rudolph! Tell us why he’s behind him on the depth chart. It makes no sense and there’s a rarely a method to Tomlin’s madness so I’m not counting on that.

I’ll give credit where credit's due…you called it. I didn’t think there was any way Pickett was not the backup to Mitch.

I'll only be upset if they put Mason in instead of Pickett if Trubisky gets hurt.

It's not IMO that Mason is better than Pickett....because He's not, but He is more experienced as a Qb on this team.
Pickett is IMO the best Qb on the team. Just the least experienced, and if they decide to go with Pickett later ...I would bet they have Mason as the backup. Of course.....I could be wrong.

first off tomlin is not developing pickett. sullivan is. give him time to work the kid in. at this point mason is the better option this early in the season. i don't think jack is too far off that if mason plays early he will get some exposure. let sullivan have the kid for a little while before they throw him to the lions.

Unless they dress all three QB’s if Trubisky gets hurt during a game you’re going to be upset.

Ben was gonna be 3rd QB behind Maddox and Batch. Circumstances decided otherwise. Steelers are good team, but there's no need to baptize Pickett with fire.

Trubisky played well in preseason. With the exception of the sh!tty Oline....he has some great weapons to work with.

I know this was in green font but I watched the Titans last preseason game and Willis was great. His arm strength is beyond compare and his accuracy is much better than advertised. Plus he had some runs that were amazing, he has great speed with the power of a fullback. I still would rather have Pickett for the long term because Willis's style of play doesn't bode well for a long career but short term he is really going to be hard to play defense against.

Lots of injuries in 03 as well if I remember. I never believed Maddox was the answer at QB, definitely was a one year wonder but I loved what he did in 02. Also, we had some struggles on D, that was Polamalu's first year and he struggled to grasp the defense.

I watched too, I was there, I remember. Adding Staley and Parker and then Wisenhunt as a new OC and having everyone back to full health certainly all helped in 04. A recommitment to the running game certainly was nice to see after Mularkey left. Zereoue certainly wasn't the answer at RB so it was nice to see him gone in 04. The Bus still obviously had gas in the tank. The Oline was healthy and played better. You didn't think Hines, Plax and El were a great trio of WR's? I think it was a talented team, were they the greatest ever, no, but they had heart and talent and weapons on offense and defense to get to 15-1.

And yes, there was a hurricane the night before and conditions were horrible in the Miami game. Again, not taking anything away from Ben but he was a rookie and none of that success was expected. There was also a ton that had to be adjusted on offense when that happened. When Ben stepped in and threw that first pass and it ended up in an int, the Yinzers were ready to give up the season and crucify him as they always do to the QB, that tradition certainly continues unfortunately. Nothing surprises me after Terry Bradshaw was hung in effigy and had batteries thrown at him.

All I'm saying is its extremely rare to see the season we did from a rookie QB that year and it was great to watch! We were blessed to have a once in a lifetime franchise QB. I'm hoping Pickett is the next one but I don't want to throw him out there yet unless we absolutely need to due to injury or inept play and of course if the Oline comes together. The depth chart played out as we thought it would (at least as you and I thought it would).

Funny... A lot of us are assuming they are not going to have 3 active QBs on gameday. I wonder how many of us are going to be wrong.
