I’m not normally a gambler but the over may add enthusiasm to the upcoming season

Now I need to find a bookie who isn’t dead

Apparently the odds makers are as upbeat as @Karl

The Steelers did beat the odds a season ago. Chances are they will do it again. As for mine?! Per the usual..


I shall return to answer this after the draft.... as always.

 

Vegas thinks very little of us. They think the browns Watson is somehow going to healthy and accurate all of sudden and that the Bengals Burrow who is super fragile will be healthy for the whole season and that Lamar will stay healthy 2 seasons in a row which goes against history. 7.5 looks like easy money boys.

At home the Steelers will play the Baltimore Ravens, Cincinnati Bengals and Cleveland Browns in the North, in addition to the Dallas Cowboys, Kansas City Chiefs, Los Angeles Chargers, New York Giants and the New York Jets.

On the road the team will face Baltimore, Cincinnati and Cleveland, as well as the Atlanta Falcons, Denver Broncos, Indianapolis Colts, Las Vegas Raiders, Philadelphia Eagles, Washington Commanders.

hard for me still to predict win / loss.

I said 9 wins last year, got to 10.

I feel roster is / will be better (after more FA and draft, UDFA, etc)

Division remains tough.

9/10 wins is my guess for 2024.

 

Eagles on the road is a loss. Steelers haven't won in Philadelphia since the early 60's. Loss. Doesn't matter how good the Steelers are when they play. Steelers always choke vs Eagles on the road.

Steelers broke the Raiders on the road "curse" last year with a win..... after no victories since Neil O'Donnell was QB.

Steelers haven't beat the Cowboys at Heinz/Acrisure since 2008.

 

We have beat the over under the last 3 years in a row, and I personally have won money from it. This maybe the 1st year I don't bet it....because if Wilson doesn't have any gas left , if we don't find a real center, and another Wr.....we are F**ked. This will be the 1st year I will wait until after preseason to make My bet.

 

The cowboys have been in Pittsburgh only once since 2008 too!

 

7.5 is maybe on the high side right now. We do not have the OL or the defensive middle to compete yet. Just my opinion.

 

I know they built a lot of large buildings in Las Vegas because they know more than we do, but how in the world does a team that won 10 games this past season, had a great 2023 draft class that is maturing, added some talent through free agency, seemingly upgraded the quarterback position, and still has the draft to add more talent only have a number of 7.5 wins???

I hope they are completely wrong and a lot of Steelers fans are raking in the cash at the end of the season.

 

Maybe because We have no Qbs on the team that played on the 10 win team, a couple of the Wrs are gone also, no center, and one 1 viable CB from last year. That is My guess. Like I said....I gamble, and Have bet the over for the last 3 years, and have won....not sure I will this year.....I definitely will wait longer this year to make the bet than I have.

 

You may be right.

One thing I know is that Vegas hates the unknown.

Maybe they think there are too many moving pieces and doubt they can put it all together.

 

This is My guess.

 

Safe to say we are not going 5-1 again in the AFC North, I’d say 3-3. Hopefully the games we are suppose to win like NE and AZ we actually do this year.

 

I'm not a big gambler mostly because it's not legal in CA, I would've been all in on them going over their total the last few years.

Now hold on. I was in Philadelphia when the Steelers beat the Eagles. I had seats right at the tunnel where players came out. A rookie named Joe Green waved up to us.

Of course it was a pre-season game

 

Well I bet the under for my Pittsburgh Pirates (75.5) and next time I head up to the Hard Rock Casino I'll put a C note on the over for our Steelers.

The bookie is right on your I-phone. A few years back I had a sports betting app that let you play for fun. Of course, I bet big and won big. When I tried for real I lost 100 dollars in about 20 hours.

 

One thing I learned is Vegas does make mistakes. 2 years ago Niners going into Philly for the NFCCG. Niners have a rookie QB and the Eagles were a strong team. Vegas made the Eagles a whopping 3 point favorite. I kid you not when I got a lot of people who never bet to head to the Casinos. Surest bet I ever made. When it became obvious it was going to be a cake walk for the Eagles my phone didn't stop ringing with people thanking me. Out of all those people I helped make money I got the grand total of 1 free breakfast.
