Rush is right there with Trubisky. He is a competent backup. He gives your team a chance to win in some situations if he has to start. He's not a guy you want in there long term.

I've only watched Rush for one year, and if Yiu compared Rush with Trubisky....it's Rush by a long shot. Of course You will bring in stuff that happened 4years ago....., but as today He is better than either of our backups

Yes, I will consider a player's entire career when evaluating that player. Silly me.

By the way, Rush and Trubisky are the same age. Last season, Trubisky completed a much higher percentage of his passes than Rush (65 percent to 58 percent). He also averaged more yards per attempt (7.0 to 6.5). Rush did throw one more touchdown (5-4) and two fewer interceptions (3-5). When you consider all of that, the numbers are comparable. Given that Trubisky's entire resume is much better, the facts don't even come close to fitting your claim.

It isn't over four years since he was better than Cooper Rush. He completed a higher percentage of his passes for more yards per attempt, and a better touchdown-to-interception ratio in 2020. I thought you were smart enough to realize that 2020 wasn't four years ago.

My bad 3 years ago. Long enough time. Sorry if I go by last time I've seen both....

The last time you saw both was 2022, when the numbers were comparable. Trubisky completed a higher percentage of his passes by a wide margin. He averaged more yards per attempt. Rush had one more touchdown and two fewer interceptions. Yet again, the facts do not fit your false claim that Rush is "way better" than the Steelers' backups. Sure, he's better than Rudolph, but that's a very low bar.

We will know for certain about Trubisky when the season is over, and we've seen him play 20 quarters of football.

The 4th quarter in 16 games, with the team running out the clock with an insurmountable lead.
And the entire 17th game, with the starters being rested for the playoffs.

If you don't think Tomlin is a great coach you're a hater. If you measure coaching on wins and losses in the post season he's not so good. I personally think he's an avg coach... maybe above avg. So I'm a hater also I guess. He has some weaknesses that really stand out when we play superior coaches. He has a tendency to lose to teams with inferior talent. The stats support this. Tomlin has benefited from having some amazing talent and he had some pretty darn good assistants over the years. I don't think he's a cheer leader like some have said. but I also don't think he's great.

I do think he has the ability to improve. I do think he's had some seasons were he did a great job coaching the team. Ironically one of his best might have been the worst team we had in terms of talent. I'm hoping Tomlin and his staff do a better job this season... clearly offense was especially bad in all aspects. If we get the perfect scenario of good coaching and superior talent breakouts we could win it all IMO. There's no excuses at the moment to not win games in the post season.

Problem is most fans only recognize amazing talent on the teams they root for, and not the teams they play. We have lost to teams in the playoffs with amazing talent....yet some people can't see that. I don't see why. Name Me a team we lost against in the playoffs besides the Tebow game that didn't have amazing talent.

Even the Tebow game isn't quite so clear cut.
Let's ignore that the coordinators (Arians, LeBeau) could have done better, and that Mile High is a huge home field advantage (altitude) against a visiting wild card team.

The team that went to Denver had a lot of injuries, and was not the same team that went 12-4.
Every team is banged up a bit by the New Year, but not to the Steelers extent.
Look at the list of starters and important depth players on the injury report.
(For defense, you only had 4 completely healthy starters: Timmons, Farrior, Taylor, Gay.)

Out or IR: Cortez Allen, Baron Batch, Curtis Brown, Chris Carter, Ryan Clark, Willie Colon, Rashard Mendenhall, Jonathan Dwyer, Mewende Moore, Chris Hoke, Maurice Pouncey, Aaron Smith, Daniel Sepulveda

Questionable (50/50 to play): Casey Hampton, James Harrison, Brett Kielsel, Troy Polamalu, Jonathan Scott

Probable (75% to play): Ben (playing on hurt ankle for a month), Lamar Woodley (hamstring for third week)

I totally agree with this, but I was using that one as a part of the argument.

"Injuries are a part of football", "It's next man up time". While true, the timing of injuries is also context here. TJ was injured in the 1st game last season and the team went 2-6. Once TJ came back the team went 7-2. Had this happened the other way around, all the optimism we have seen this offseason, would have been talking fans off the ledge instead.

It is tough to win games in the NFL. Add in key injuries at key moments only makes it tougher.

The 2 biggest things for me every season are penalties and turnovers. These things are wholly on players. If we are committing penalties and turning the ball over, we will not win games. You still lose some mistake-free games but your odds are much greater with fewer penalties and turnovers.

Credit to both Kahn and Weidl. People tend to often forget that Andy Weidl played a major part being the architect in developing multiple Offensive Lines in the NFL for over a generation now. From Baltimore to Philly, dude has definitely either played some aspect (2005-2015 with Baltimore) or played a massive part (2020 Eagles Draft). Now, with him along with Kahn, team has put together the best Steelers Offseason seen in over a decade. How this will all translate onto the field still remains a mystery but these two cannot be faulted for not giving the team every opportunity to win should the season go south.

... Not that I believe it will; still having this team as a 10 win team.
