In 2022 they averaged a little over 17 points a game, to be a playoff team I think they need to average about 23-24 points a game. Matt Canada will surprise fans with a much improved offense, last year the offense lacked explosive plays, I don't think that will be a problem this season.

Unless KFP goes down. Neither of our backups look capable of running this team.

I agree that Pickett can’t miss any time in order for this offense to click. With this schedule the Steelers have they can easily win 12 games maybe even 13 if Pickett plays like he did in the preseason and this defense stays healthy as well. I feel this team is that good.

As Kenny goes so goes the Steelers. We got some ****ty back-ups. I too think we could have a good season. Healthy, this is a Playoff team. All 7 Playoff teams in AFC are going to have a damn good QB. At this moment in time I still say Burrow, Mahomes and Lawrence (huge stride last season) are guys who will keep us from the promised land.

I really believe the mix of run and pass is going to be impressive. I see a lot of 30+ point games.

Well he best do it. His future in Pittsburgh depends on him not Fing it up. If Pickett plays the way we saw at the end of last year and during this pre season Canada will be doing a snoopy dance. Canada has to let Pickett have freedom to change a call if see fit. I believe Pickett will have a solid year.

Have we done enough with the OL to keep KP healthy? Seems that was a big fear before last year of whoever was going to start at QB. Time will quickly tell as KP concussion issues may still linger. Also, did Canada read a book during the offseason that will turn around his ability to run an offense? Many wanted his head on a platter after last season but now seem to think differently. Hope he doesn't disappoint all of us wasting the talent we have. JMO>

IF KP goes down we are back to 13-17 points per game with either backup, and much of that will be from the defense creating TO’s and shortening the field.

Canada looks genuinely excited about what the offense can do this season. 2 years again he had an aging QB whose arm strength had diminished to the point that all our pass plays seemed to be less than 10 yards and the defenses knew it.
Last season we started with Trubisky as the starter, enough said. Then we go to KP and Tomlin understandably plays not to lose with the offense until late in games.
Canada finally has a good, young QB who can make all the throws, he has 3 RB’s and Heyward as needed, he has multiple TE’s who can produce, electric WR’s and a much improved Oline with a stud at left guard. And lastly, Tomlin has told Canada to open the offense. This must feel like a dream job.

I was not happy when the steelers decided to keep Canada and I still have a lot of doubts about Canada but if the steelers have a very good offense in 2023, I will be happy to admit that I was wrong on Matt Canada!

They aren't running that same dink and dunk offense from the last two years.

The secondary is my biggest concern right now, but their pass rush will help a lot, the ILBs looks to be much improved from last season.

I'm optimistic, pre-season really does not show much, except KP made good decisions and the ball was thrown with confidence and in a good tight window. There are a variety of weapons and all were used effectively in pre. In earlier discussions I posted that getting to that PPG average would put us near the top 10 in 2022 NFL. Someone responded that 7 points gained is this league is very hard. It might be, but if Boz regains his mojo (looks the case) and the O capitalizes more in the red zone getting to 24 is very possible. The key is converting TD's in the red zone, and Boz converting those 30-40 yarders he was missing last year.

I think that is still one of the biggest question marks. I do not think Minkah played at all in preseason, what we did see was a fierce pass rush, the middle was better contained (will it transfer to regular season). That alone should free up the secondary to run their schemes, but I don't think we will really see how effective this D will be until we are a couple of weeks in, all the new guys, it's going to take some time for the communication to gel.

I feel like Tomlin thinks this season is the first time that it’s fair to truly grade Canada because the limitations are gone. Sure the QB is still young and will make some mistakes, but pieces are in place. If we have a healthy KP and offense, and don’t average 24, Canada should see the door in the off season.

Need to see the offensive line play well. Need to see Pickett continually progress upward. And last but not least, that Matt Canada is capable of integrating all the playmaker's he has into sound offensive schemes based on the competition. If all those aspects trend positively, I think the upside is a twelve-win season. Should get them in to the playoffs as a wild card team. The X factor with all this is that the team doesn't suffer a spate of injuries to key players. I'm usually amped for the start of the pro football season but more so this year than for the last several seasons.

OL play is crucial. I forget names and can't find the vid to link it, but a post gazette guy commented that Daniels this year was light years ahead from last year, while Cole is not the best center he is good and has appeared more comfortable than last year, the addition of Seumalo has been like cement forming the 3 together. We'll see, but if Moore has matured and Chuks is the weak link, then the line should be fine.

I know it's Pickett's second year but it's the beginning of a whole new era of Steeler football. I can see many Steeler faithful being more amped for this season then the past few years.

I think IF, 1st team stays healthy we are as good as anybody. I would say that for just about any team though. Our depth is concerning. When Mitch came in not only did the entire look of the offense change but the play did as well. The calls were different, we gave up sacks, passes caught had no YAC. It was a different team. Week 1 I am as optimistic as any fan. Let it be what it will be.

I am no fan of Tomlin at this point. However I will admit to the possibility of being wrong. If he's willing to put this effort into his job then there might be hope
