The steelers have the worst offensive line in the NFL?

Line looked terrible through preseason play with backups too

 

The talent still needs to be upgraded on the OL.

 

I'm still trying to be cautiously optimistic and holding out hope that the Oline will gel and improve. I was hoping this would have been the case last year but boy we know how that worked out.

The bright spot that I'm hoping for this year is our new OL coach, Pat Meyer. I thought it was interesting that Meyer was brought in after seeing what he had done in Carolina under Matt Rhule the last two years. Meyer utilizes a multiple blocking scheme. Its interesting to see what he was able to do in Carolina last year with two completely different offenses.

We will see more zone runs, one being the wide zone concept, same as what Najee was a part of at Alabama. The wide zone blocking scheme in the run game doesn’t require speed at RB. Najee's strength is as a one-cut runner, powering his way to the inside of the OT, which means Chuks and Moore better step up big time. This blocking scheme will hopefully allow some opportunities for breakaway runs, maybe adding some outside runs as well keeping defenses on their toes.

RPO's added in as well help, with a heavy emphasis on the running game. So if anything, I'm hoping Meyer is the overhaul that was needed here. Time will tell. Trying to be an optimist for once lol!

 

I just hope we utilize the screen game to max effect. Let them come in, dump it behind the defense quick. Let those big uglies hit some folks in space that are backpedling. Run play action, misdirection, roll outs, limit the long drops in the pocket. Maybe even run max protect with guys that can catch out of the backfield. We may have a weakness, but hopefully the coaches can design a game plan that can mitigate their deficiencies.

 

They will have to keep working hard and improve, add talent when you can.

I think I am capable of replacing Dan Moore Jr. on the O-Line for position of LT (Left Turnstile)

 

We may be bad, but the Bengals gave up 7 sacks today, including 2 qb fumbles (1 turnover).

I bring it up because one of the talking heads from NFL network had as his prediction this week that the revamped Cincy o-line would allow 0 sacks to the Steelers. That lasted exactly (checks watch) 1 offensive play.
