I remember he seemed to be on pace that one season, I think he had an injury and missed some time near the end of the season, Brady won it that season IIRC.

Only two defensive players have won NFL MVP, Alan Page and Lawrence Taylor.

It is effectively an award for best QB or RB.

Yet I'm always hearing how Aaron Donald is the greatest player in the NFL.

Yet no MVP. I can see why it mostly is the O guys. Much more glamour.

Another reason that Terry Bradshaw was the greatest QB in Steelers history!

Hmm I wouldn't have guess Terry for some reason. Good to know.

Ben had no hope to ever win a league MVP. He was up against Brady and Peyton Manning most of his career and in his later years had to compete against Mahomes and Lamar Jackson. In the NFC he had Favre and then Rodgers to compete against. Ben had some very good to great years but not historic years like these other guys had.

I know it's a regular season award, but im.sure Donald enjoys the ring more than the award giving to a first round play off loser lol.

No doubt, but the pro bowl has went from at least a semblance of pride to play to guys refusing and replaced by alternates. A total joke.

How? Almost every league mvp had a legitimate case to win it.

Go back and read your statement again. Every season MVP had a legitimate case to win it. My statement still stands it is a popularity contest and not merit based. Of course Brady and Rodgers had legit case to win. Their numbers are always high and they almost always make the playoffs. Looking at the season could you make the claim that Rodgers and Brady were better than Burrow, Allen, Stafford, Watt, Donald Kupp or Mahomes? I don't even think Watt and Donald got looked at for league MVP.
Heck I will even throw you an underhand floater of a pitch. Did Antonio Brown ever get seriously consideration for MVP? Heck in one season Brown had more receiving yards in a single game than all but 3 wr's had at that point in the season. It's a beauty pagent where they pick the ones no one will question.
