The Steelers draft grade gets an A

smarts. that's what i see fron nearly every player they drafted and brought in during the offseason. rolle,clemons,adams.decastro,spence,fredrick,beachum,AT,johnson....... nice mix when you can get good players with intelligence and physical ability. that is a home run.

 

He is very fast and quick closing and amazing instincts. I read an article that suggested they may be grooming him to take over for Taz. I believe he could actually do it in a couple of years when Troys contract runs out in 2014

The draft def. was an A. DeCastro was gold. Adams, IF he can keep his mouth off the pot pipe has starting LT talent for sure. Tamu is a guy who is bigger weight wise than Hampton, but doesn't necessarily look it to me. Spence, is a guy I am not sure about, but if he works out as a special teamer and backup to Timmons I am pretty happy. Just looking quickly at the roster, here are areas I think we need to address next draft, potentially.

QB - Nothing but depth or a potential replacement for Ben to groom
RB - I would rather go UFA here, either bringing Mendy back or another back
WR - If Wallace, Sanders, or Brown leave
TE - I think we are good here
Oline - IMO we may have to move Gilbert or Colon to guard this year. If that happens, we are just looking at T depth. I like Legursky and Foster as depth at the guard/center spots, but we are really shallow at the T position. You always look for depth here, but in the last few drafts I think we now have 4 guys I am really comfortable projecting as starters.

Dline - Depth
OLB - Harrison will need replaced, if Carter or Worilds don't step up, this may be a target.
ILB - Sylvester...come on down. If you can't cut it, guess what, this would become a MAJOR targer.
CB - I like 4 guys we have, but Ike won't play forever.
S - Clark and Polamalu will both need replacements soon.

Also, don't rule out the strange UFA replacement here or there. That is how we ended up with Clark in the first place.
