well seeing how Fichtner and Canada were both F's... Smith was fine IMO. He looked really good some weeks, but meh others, he didn't have a lot to work with in terms of weapons. He had a scrubby RB in Harris, no WR2, and Russell Wilson as his QB year 1 and still no WR2 and a 42 year old starting QB in year 2... He was kneecapped by personnel IMO. He was a B-

Though, at least we know what kind of OC we're getting in McCarthy. He's had a lot of high powered offenses under his watch, but he also had really good QB's (which we don't have here yet). We will see.

Supposedly. I am not sure what the reports are on him commanding Justin Fields level money from last offseason. Fields had started 44 games going into FA and came off his best stint as a starter in Pittsburgh. Willis has started 6 games (3 in GB). It would be pretty shocking to me for Willis to get Fields' money. Spotrac has him rated somewhere in the 10.5m a year range. 2 years/25 million and like 12-15 guaranteed is a decent contract possibility for him IMO. Gives him some good guarantees and a one year "show me" as a starter. If he balls out, he gets extended in the offseason (and likely at a much higher AAV). If he sucks, he's an easy cut and only one year of dead money. I wouldn't hate us taking a shot on him at that price.

Unless there is a 3 team bidding war for his services, I doubt he gets into the 2yr/40 million with 30 guaranteed. He's just not started enough games for a team to think he's worth that.

For the love of God, why do people keep bringing up Malik Willis? Isn't Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodges being here not enough for you people?

Agree, about being kneecapped by personnel, but he still called plays to Jonnu too much, and Friermuth not enough this past season.

McCarthy did spend a year off from Coaching. Hopefully he has learned a thing or two about the newer Modern Schematics of the NFL. Who knows though?! Time will tell on that front for certain.
