He did beat Tomlin in the Super Bowl.

Message board heros. You guys just read the news. Know nothing.
You either root for the Steelers or not. Shula probably would have sucked too.

Feel similar, though I thought him somewhere in the middle of those interviewed so far.

Has a similar past of Tomlin (he just didn't get lifetime tenures like Tomlin) and Harbaugh.

Lets hope he's learned from whatever his weaknesses were and plans to avoid those pitfalls this time around.

The KEY in all of this is who gets hired as the DC. That will be the make or break to this hire in the near term. A quality, proven DC or an assistant that has been working direclty with a good DC (Fangio, Schwartz, a few others), etc.

Blitzburgh may not work any longer due to all the rule changes, but would like to see a more aggressive D, with more bump/man coverage and less tissue soft zone to just "let em catch it and then try and tackle em" 5, 7 and 10 yard completions.

I was looking forward to the draft and free agency, now they don't mean a damn thing because Rooney just took a giant dump on any hope the Steelers had for the near future.

Hear me out it could work with McCarthy:
Draft a guard to replace Seumalo
    Bring Rodgers back
    Bring in two new receivers

    Right.

Other than Rodgers, there is no reason for this hire.

    McCarthy is Tomlin but smarter.
    Who is Shula? No one.
    We need better OCs.

Certainly hope not. It's called futility, doing the same thing over and over an expecting different results? And everyone is a year older (for some, thats good, but for key players, not so much).

Ten years of futility with Tomlin, at least 6 years and two extensions too long. Feels like we're just replacing Tomlin with just a marginal upgrade. Ugh.

We have a slew of draft picks. I hope a few albatross are cut and by some small miracle we hit on a rookie QB in round 2/3/4 that competes with Howard and blows everyone away in pre-season.

Sorry to all of those fans that thought the team would be willing to have a bad season in 2026 to get a good draft pick in 2027 for a QB.

And we're ALL still glad about that. McCarthy, no matter how boring is an upgrade. A rotting tree-stump is an upgrade over Tomlin.
