‘this is key in my mind. If he brings in good OC and DC I am fine. He will also probably be a “transition Coach” probably not the long term fix.

Idk, I know its mostly wishful thinking lol

Though, who knows. Maybe McCarthy said hey, I'll give you a really good 4-5 years and develop a young QB for you...

I'm sitting here trying to find positives in a sea of negativity. I don't love the hire, but I am looking for avenues to get excited about something. I think the development of a young QB and potentially the development of a young PGC into a replacement HC down the line is about as much as I can muster.

    This is just so sad.
Management really had the chance to build up so much hype and hope for the next few years.
    They crushed it.
I guess this is how Steelers will pick up the high draft picks.

That's what I was saying days ago, not ever thinking it would happen.

A lot of untruths have been said of Rodgers. Just because that has been inferred, doesnt make it so.

Wonder what QB he's been winking at? Cousins?
Please don't use First Draft pick for a QB.

Is he still connected to Green Bay at all? There's Willis.

You know the Steelers history right?

Art wouldn't have fired MT in another 5 years after 10 years of fail.

We're stuck with Mcarthy for years.

    https://www.si.com/nfl/2018/12/03/aaron-rodgers-regularly-changed-mike-mccarthy-play-calls-packers

It was a couple years brewing at the end, but most of the local beat reporters felt that the two didn’t like each other much by the end.

I can’t find it now, but Rodgers discussed that McCarthy would start repeating playcalls in the second half because he ran out of prepared stuff to call.

It’s unclear how true any of it is, but similar issues were reported in Dallas with Dak having to just figure it out etc.

Mcarthy got lazy and wasn't prepared. He couldn't get that past Rodgers, who was always nails with prep.

I really had reservations when I heard on The Fan they were interviewing him. I just knew that was the way they were going to go. And I'm not totally against bringing Rodgers back but I fail to see how or why ARII would be dumb enough to hire Mike McCarthy just for that reason. I also can't see the wisdom of hiring a "bridge" coach. I don't really have anything against Mike McCarthy. I know the situation in Dallas makes any head coach a straw man. But he's a retread. It's like he was the easiest choice, the most comfortable pick. ARII needs to step aside. I just hope McCarthy can develop Will Howard into a competent QB. Or someone else. Beyond that, I don't have much faith that he, Khan and Weidl can build a contender.

I'm not doubting you. I just think with Rodgers you have to take things in context. Hes competitive and vocal. Just because he called a coach out for something, doesnt neccessary mean he tried to get him fired.

He was pretty rough on Aurthur Smith a few times this year for not getting plays in on time too.

Art opted for 9-8 at best and stuck two fingers up to the fans who he felt robbed him of years of running it back with Tomlin, because all he wants is a comfort blanket of familiarity and "his guys". He has let the NFL pass him by and he does not care, he is delusional and is happy with raking the $$$$ in and not having to deal with any choppy waters.

No awnerr worth his salt watches a decade of abject playoff failure and thinks the answer is more of the same.

    But here we are...

I honestly was pleasantly surprised with how Rodgers handled himself. I thought he was honest, forthright. And it became clear quickly that he wanted to win. He seems like a good dude, and I really thought he was a jerk.

I was wrong he conducted himself very profesionally. He walked into an org that doesn't share his desire for success, if that means some change and friction.

The Steelers are lost, that's been clear for years.

Hey, well it could have been worse. The Giants might have saved them from hiring John Harbaugh.
