Again,I can live with the turnovers if your team is in the top 10 in several category on offense, like yards and PPG

    What is your point?

It seems to be that the 2025 Seahawks offense was better than the 2025 Steelers offense AND that Darnold is a good but system specific QB. Did I get it correct?

If so, is anyone arguing against that? The Seahawks were a better offense in 2025 than the Steelers. No real way to dispute that. Darnold was an effective trigger man for that offense. Most likely, if he and Rodgers would have swapped spots, Darnold would have been less effective in the Steelers offense.

I am not sure what everyone is arguing about with that. Of course we can not prove any of it....but it is kinda hard to really disagree with. Maybe I am not following the discussion adequately.

The Seahawks were third in the league in points per game with him at quarterback. Haven't you been claiming that points are what matters? :)

So Steelers offense must be elite in the last 5 years if turnovers are the only stat that matters

I don't think he would have been less effective than Rodgers, but he certainly would have been less than he was in Seattle. The lack of a competent starter opposite Metcalf would have hampered any quarterback. That is why the plan I outlined that included signing Darnold also included keeping Pickens.

For crying out loud...do you even see the circles you talk in?

On one hand you are CERTAIN that not signing Watt and trading for draft picks and cap space will significantly improve the 2025 and forward Steelers....but than decry the discussion as "dubious" because of hindsight.

Either you can be certain or you can be dubious...but you can't be both here and maintain that you are coming from a logic based point.

LoL. If You actually use your brain, and read what you wrote , tell me what this has to do with Sam Darnold being average.
You can still be tops in PPG, and yards and Your Qb is average, there are others on the team that touch the ball beside the Qb.
We aren't comparing offenses , we are comparing Qbs.

I would have liked to keep Pickens as well. If it was my team to run, I would've signed him long term before the season. But there just was no version of this reality where the Steelers did that. I think internally they soured on him too much for reasons we likely never get to know.

He doesn't have a point it's why he has to keep moving the goal post. Nobody on here said the Steelers had a better offense than Seattle. Nobody.
We were talking about Qbs, but as usual he can't be wrong, or has no real argument so he has to move the goal post

It's true that Rodgers and Darnold were in very different situations, but @S.T.D@S.T.D was comparing Rodgers with Darnold in 2025 as if they had a similar season(post 152 in page 7), which isn't the case since Darnold had 700 more yards than Rodgers despite only a 20 pass attempt difference.

I'm not saying Darnold would have been great with us last year; my point is that we shouldn't rely solely on a TD-turnover ratio to judge a QB... otherwise, Russell Wilson would have stayed in Denver after 2023 or 2024 with the Steelers since his TD-turnover ratio was solid, but his other stats weren't.

I agree that it's very possible Darnold wouldn't have been successful in an Arthur Smith offense, and it would have been a different system for him. However, I disagree with the importance of the TD-turnover ratio when you can do practically all the work on several drives for a TD but you're not the one who ends up with a TD... TDs can have many variables for a player.

    LoL. Are you 3??
I compared Darnold with Rodgers to show how average the Qbs were. Stop trying to move the goal post. I never once compared the offenses.
Again. You can be a average Qb, and still have a great team.

Jalen Hurts comes to mind... even though he's played lights out in both Super Bowls he was in.

700 passing yards of difference with about the same pass attempts is just massive...It can't be ignored

I think Hurts and Darnold are around in the top 10 to 12.You can win with them if your team are good around you and have some game you win because of them like Hurts vs commanders and chiefs in 2024 or Darnold vs rams in 2025 NFC title game....I am not sure we can said the same for current Rodgers because he can't move or take a hit at this point of his career

For sure. There can be a variety of flawed metrics to attempt to evaluate on field performance.

I guess I do not know really understand what the point of contention is here? Darnold is an exceedingly average QB that needs the support of highly sophisticated offensive system to play well. Rodgers is an old veteran who can no longer just elevate an entire offense to dizzying heights.

What is everyone getting all worked up about?
