Landry Jones looked like crap. He threw some ugly passes, but he's a 3rd stringer and not Big Ben.

The only reason that even matters is Big Ben did not play.

The defense is not that good. The offense still has to put up 30+ point games or they will lose. As surprising they have been, they still allow 20-30 a game but this is not why they lost.

4-3. In playoff contention. They will make it. Barring no more serious injuries. Relax!

I'm glad Landry got some regular season game experience. He didn't have a stellar game, but every little thing is gonna be alright. :)

I was at the game, so, maybe my view wasn't as good as some of you had at home (or the bar). What I saw was a Steelers team that seemed to be 1 step behind the entire game. It isn't that they played all that terrible they were just...1 step behind. Smith didn't tear it up by any means. Their defense didn't really slow us down. We were just...1 step behind ALL GAME. For me this is what the game really came down. On a side note, I spent a lot of the game watching Dupree and I can tell you right here that he is going to be a stud. The guy is huge, fast and was doing the little things that will make him great. On a second side note, Bell is, well, Bell!

Poor execution, poor play calling, poor coaching. That's why we lost. As others have wondered, why the heck did Bell only get 17 carries? I wasn't upset that we lost so much as I was shocked to see even more horrible tackling and poor defensive performance. I was even more shocked at Haley and his laughable play calling this time around.

I'm not in the least a Haley hater ( quite the opposite) but he had a very bad day and bit the bone this game.

I'm thinking at best we see 10-6 this year and that's only if our offense get's into high gear with Ben's return. Calling our defense average is paying them a high complement.

This. With no capable replacements for spelling Tuitt and Heyward taking them off the field pulls the D line down a notch. Tuitt's absence showed against KC. This is a blunder by the brass. McClendon to me is more DE material but mans the middle. Why not spell either with McCullers? I would feel more comfortable with Big Dan giving the two studs a spell then Tomato Cam Thomas. WTF does this coaching staff see in this waste? Keisel. He is out there. But we have Dri Archer...

we can't tackle. 20 missed tackles in this game. shazier was terrible and spence and williams only played 6 snaps all day. ilb'ers had a bad day and i'm talking LT and shazier. something is up with timmons mobility this year, it's not the same. yet we are still asking him to play all over the field. shazier simply ran around and tried to arm tackle all day except for the sack which took both he and LT. no d-line depth. this should have been addressed long ago. heyward needs some help.

I heard some where that the steelers are something like 7-14 against teams with a losing record - over the last 3 years. That's a disturbing stat to stay the least. No defending it. It really shows just how inconsistent we have been. TO be that inconsistent IMO points to the fact that we are loaded with talent but disorganized. When you can be the best or the worst on any given sunday really points directly at Mike Tomlin. His staff is not getting it done. We have a top 3 QB, 2 of the best WR's in the league, and the best RB in the league. Even with Ben out you cannot lose to KC and the Ravens. All I hear are excuses. Tomlin him self always says no excuses allowed...but here he is living on a pile of excuses as to why his teams consistently under perform. We haven't won a playoff game since 2010. It's going to take 10 wins this year to make the playoffs. If we're 4-4 at the half way mark anyone confident that we can finish the season 6-2 ? We lost to the Chiefs and Ravens already..so I can't believe we'll play 6-2 ball on the 2nd half.

    Remaining schedule:

    Bengals
    Raiders
    Browns
    Seahawks
    Colts
    Bengals
    Broncos
    Ravens
    Browns

Yeah Mac I think there were quite a few times Shazier was caught staring into the backfield and missed covering his zone and pass were thrown his way that he wasn't able to cover. There was rust there and they should have eased him back in with Spence and Williams splitting time.

yep, we have played pretty decent with spence and williams. there was no need to force shazier into that many snaps and watch him not perform. we never make in game changes though. 6 snaps between the two backups is not smart coaching. it's not like either is a bad player either.

This defense is good.. The major problem with the Chiefs game was two things really. No Tuitt and no Williams and Spence. I do not think its a coincidence that we look alot better when Williams and Spence are on the field verses Shazier.

Shazier needed at least a game to get back into beast mode.

If they go 6-3 they will most likely get a wildcard berth.

The reason they lost was because just as I predicted I didn't think Landry or AV would play well, both of them making their first starts on the road and they struggled. You won't win a lot of games only scoring 13 points.

Not to sound like the old fart i am, but poor tackling is pretty much league wide..and it drives me nuts! Everyone seems like they're going for the big hit, and trying shoulder guys down rather than wrap up.

Really "fundamentals" are becoming a thing of the past across multiple sports. If you watch old NBA games you see guys playing as a team and taking mid range jumpers and just playing really fundamental basketball. Nowadays it's all about how spectacular your dunk can be or how many 3s you can throw up in a game. Michael Jordan actually said that he feels like something that got looked over in his game was his sound fundamentals and good defense. He said he feels like guys just wanna be able to dunk as good as he could but not be nearly as well rounded as him. Baseball has pretty much become nothing but a homerun contest now as well. How many "small ball" players are big superstars? It's all about the guy that can shoot one in to the stands but who cares if he can play defense or anything else? It's just a side effect of the media glorifying the most spectacular plays and that gives people the impression that they must be the most spectacular players. They actually are not. Give me a Heath Miller anyday!

Agree with most of reasons why we lost to KC. But the real reason we beat SD was obviously the Bell TD call by that rookie sideline ref - found her Facebook selfie (way below) - and now know why no one argued with her call (this one's for you BFT - I know you're a huge fan - :roflmao:)

LOL! I always knew that's what she really looked like. I'm really ticked about the new "Ghostbusters" they are making but I figure they missed a great chance to cast the new Stay Puft Marshmallow Man.

it is league wide b&g, but we lead the league by a huge margin back to the second place sucky tackling team. that's the troublesome part.

I wasnt able to find that, Mac, do you have a link?

I did find that they are ranked 7th in tackles made. Not saying they aren't missing tackles, thats painfully obvious, just that it would be an interesting contrast.

    AND

    B. Rosie O'donnell looks like the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man and if I ever come across him I hope I'm wearing my proton pack!
