Still not drinking the JJ Kool-Aid. Yeah, he's great for the home crowd, but he's not the one I would rely on to make a game-breaking play. He's not a scrub, no one at the NFL level is - but he's not *that* talented.

Do we have anyone else currently that is better than a (distant) # 2 talent-wise at TE? No, certainly not Grimble. But let's not kid ourselves.

Lol....Vance got way more targets because he is a way better player, they tried to replace JJ with a scrambled eggs Green 1st, then traded for Vance...

JJ is a 2nd TE ( I don't even think that ) the only real thing he brings is availability...But it's not hard to stay healthy when you go 3 yards, catch it ( sometimes ) and fall down...He is a scrub...

And I wouldn't be surprised if this is a guy they want to upgrade on...Because when/ if Vance gets hurt...James brings nothing other than a 3 yard safety valve

The fact that its Jesse James that is speaking says a lot about the lack of leadership on this team. The players who should be speaking to AB and Ben are Pouncey, DeCastro, Heyward, Tuitt, and to a lesser extent because he has only been with the Steelers for two years, Joe Haden. The Steelers may have some potential leaders of the future in Watt, Conners, and JuJu, but that probably doesn't happen until their second contracts.

Why does anyone need to "speak to Ben" at this point? He's done nothing but come out and say he wants AB here.

Exactly. Remember early in the season and preseason when people were trying to argue that James was better? I guess killer stiff arm on the long touchdown reception against the Bucs finally got through to most of the holdouts.

another TE in the draft and would be a killer TE set.

ugh just made me realize this team has way too many holes

    I don't hate James, I don't hate anybody...I just don't think he's a good football player!

The rule got changed to all the ball has to do is break the plane, with JJ he had to manage control all the way through, the ground caused the ball to come out so they said it wasn't a TD/catch. When Ben stretched out and the ball came loose cus of the ground, that wouldn't have been a TD before the JJ rule. Even the commentators brought it up saying the same thing, that wouldn't have been a TD 2 seasons ago.

The rule was always that the ball just had to break the plane. The rule change was all about receptions, not running plays.

I don't think they have a hole at tight end. They need to find a backup if James leaves, but that's it.

The holes are on defense, specifically inside linebacker and cornerback. Right outside linebacker is an issue, too, but I'm betting they are planning on going with Dupree again.

Seeing as how they picked up his option, then I'd say they are.

Which means they had better be seriously looking at an ILB in the draft, or some stud in FA. Otherwise... more of the same on D.

How about if some players showed leadership, talking to AB and Ben, they could have kept the situation from escalating to the point that it did.

But that's my point - Ben *is* one of the ones saying "there is nothing to see here, I love the guy, let's all be teammates for life"... AB is the one throwing a tizzy.
