Thought I'd start a thread on my guy. Been on him since the summer. Be interesting to see how his story plays out.

There are tonnes of highlights on Rudolph but I thought I would start with a good video that just came out on his 2017 low lights.

Not into him, I am not a big 12 QB fan. I do like his size.

We will see how far up he rises and how desperate some teams will be.

I think he is inconsistent, but when he is on he has elite skills.

I can see Buffalo going after a guy like Rudolph.

The guy in Wyoming would be a nice pick up but he probably will not be there either

they all have they're demons. they all have times they look great. this will be a tough task. there are even some guys i'd like to see us pick up as the 4th arm too. mike white, chad kanoff, brandon silvers to name a few. you never know when that diamond in the rough shows up. all these guys had good college careers.

Appreciate your passion Mac, but we really need FOCUS on the chosen one, Who should be are #1 prioroty

this draft season. Steelers must be agressive and do their home work on all the QB choices.

    Agree with Ward.

If we are going to go FA route I can live with that. Lots of options and we keep focus on rebuilding the defense.

However, if we are drafting a QB, no more 4th round pick hopefuls.

Go and get your guy in Round 1. One of the best QB classes in a long time.

I'm not a big Trent Dilfer fan, but he says this is the best QB class since '83.

Here's another breakdown which shows some of the good AND the bad of Mason Rudolph. This is an older video so doesn't
Have footage of his Sr season. It's also a poorly edited video so have some patience.

Just notice how much the Oklahoma scheme seems to mirror the Steelers'. Lots of similarities in my opinion. That's
Why I think Rudolph can make a quick transition.

i'm saying i wouldn't be opposed to a #1 and a UDFA best of the rest to have on hand since this is the best class in awhile. worst that could happen is we cut him, best could be better than any of the ones we have.:cool:

Ward is right to be skeptical. The Big 12 has a horrific track record of sending QBs to succeed in the NFL.

It might not be fair but it is a reality.

I like Rudolph thought we had a shot last year at him but he stayed. I am real worried he won't last to us. Some other names I would look at as well are Luke Falk Washington State & Riley Furgeson Memphis any thoughts on these guys?

I like Falk. He' accurate. Not sure he' a 1st rounder though.

Alot to like about Ferguson . Not very strong though. A ways off.

Both are on my radar. I think Falk is a 2nd rounder, same with Ferguson.

Mason Ruldolph, in some ways, does share similar characteristics with Ben.

-Both have M777 Howitzers for arms.

-Both had good enough footwork coming out of college.

-Both play in essentially a "Spread" offense; the NFL's variant is more geared though for personnel exploitation than scheme as it is in college.

-Both can put too much zip on the ball sadly.

-Most importantly though, both are natural born leaders.

I do see the comparisons Steel_City and I concur. I also believe that he can and will be available come Round One but only if Darnold declares. If not, Ruldolphs draft stock is going to skyrocket.

That being said, add my name as well for Mason Ruldolph. Big XII, SEC or otherwise, if "the next one" is there, take him.

I have 0 interest in Big 12 QBs. They play against air defenses. They have elite skill teammates that take swing passes 70 yards for TDs and they throw to guys wide open by 10 yards. Their stats get bloated because of it and they don’t seem to develop the accuracy needed in the NFL.

Their failure rate in the NFL over the past 15 years is alarming. It’s more than an anomaly. It’s a trend. Sam Bradford is probably the best and he has underperformed from being number 1 overall.

I’m sure Baker Mayfield will go high and it sounds like this Rudolph has the measurables. I’d pass

As much as I love Rudolph, this is tough to argue against.

Big 12 track record is abysmal. I think Rudolph can emerge though if he goes into the right system.

Mayfield played well last night, but I don't think he is an NFL starting QB. Big mistake if he goes in the 1st round.
