IDK the specifics, and they may have changed, but are teams limited on how many comp picks they can get in a year? It has changed over the years, like now they can be traded, teams get comp picks for hiring certain coach's, but having an extra 3 and 4 alone gives Omar ammo to ramp up the 26 draft in the 'Burgh.

What is crazy is Robert Spillane just signed a for 37.5 million with 20 guaranteed.. WTF. Former special teams player for the Steelers.

Did the Steelers misjudge his talent that much, or did the Patriots overpay for a mediocre player?

 

After he stopped Derrick Henry by himself ... he was my guy!

 

Spillane was a defensive captain with the Raiders and an all-around solid player. the steelers definitely underestimated his abilities by letting him walk for cheap. he was a hard nosed player here and a prototypical Steelers LB. bummed we let him walk and have been trying to fortify our ILB position ever since.

 

They're fine; they started with $65.3M and have spent about $20M after accounting for the restructures/cuts.
