If the steelers have sites on either porter or branch, I believe they need to stay within the top 4 or 5 of the 2nd round. Any further down, they will lose both.

Getting an OT Rd1 and then JPJ at 32 would be a hell of a start. Two huge needs filled right out of the gate.

I am not a fan of Branch. This draft is deep with safeties too and guys who tested better.
I really like Chammari Conner and Mekhi Garner for strong safety. Both are projected day 3.

Given who is available, they better damn well get more than a fourth-round pick to move down.

I agree that it would show a lack of faith in Porter if they don't take him at 32, but it is possible they will receive an offer they cannot refuse.

Nothing changed with the day two picks.

Ugh. Hall sounds like a terrible idea. He is probably a third-round pick. Cornerback and safety are bigger needs and Porter, Branch and Cam Smith are all better players. Hell, I would rather see them take Mayer, Benton, or Keion White than Hall.

Part of the appeal of Branch is that he can play nickel corner, too.

    I agree with this.

I think you just have to look at what teams that are 5-7 spots back and say who may really want Will Levis the most.

Lions, Seahawks, Raiders, and Rams might want Levis.

But, if they want either Porter Jr. or Branch

Then they could really cost themselves.

But look at what the Patriots took from us to move down 3 spots, a 4th rounder.

If you move down only 5-7 spots in the 2nd round what will that get us back, maybe a 5th round pick?

Is a 5th rounder really worth missing out on those guys?

But who knows maybe we get presented an offer we can't refuse....

I'm sure the phone is ringing off the hook.

Benton has incredible strength and knows how to use leverage being 48-2 in his wrestling career with the Badgers.

It has to be a better value than what the Patriots got from the Steelers for it to be worthwhile. Remember, the circumstances are different. The Patriots only had a few minutes to make a deal. They didn't have time to take multiple bids on the pick. The Steelers have all day to field offers for 32. That is an entire day of teams that want a young quarterback looking at Levis being available.

To me, the best fit is the Rams, who have shown a willingness to pay a high price for what they want in the past. The question is if they actually want Levis.

    Cam Smith tested poorly.
Branch, as you said, maybe nickel, I am not a fan.
Porter is okay, not special. It's more of a political pick among several excellent cornerbacks available of whom several are better than Porter. For example, I would take Darius Rush, Jakorian Bennett, and Cory Trice ahead of Porter.
Mayer is a luxury pick. Not sure he is better than Muth.
I like Benton. I also like Keion White. Those are good picks.

After watching Will Levis last night.... go be friends with that guy if your 22 or 23 years and single.

My lord, he had more good looking girls around him than the Hawaiian Tropic bus....

Now I realize at almost 38 years old I am now becoming that creepy guy....

No. It’s really not with deep with safeties. Branch is the best of the bunch and then there’s a fairly significant drop off

It is always interesting to see the families and girlfriends.

Paris Johnson's Mom was a hottie, she looked like she was his girlfriend.

Hall would beat Forbes for worst pick of the draft so far.

I believe Porter is dropping due to lack of interceptions which is a mistake IMO. Hopefully the Steelers get him this round. Branch or Smith would be nice also.

Brian Branch CB of Alabama is rated higher than JPJ. So who should the Steelers pick at #32?

It`s always a matter of degree, right? If it is a move down of only a few spots then there is value (would have to consult website on point value).

Then it`s what management thinks about remaining talent left. If they are not high on any one player at 32, but see several players they may like not worth a 32 they will trade down.

JP, a better player. They should always pick a better talent regardless of some media ranking.

Political pick? Please stop. Khan and Tomlin aren't that stupid.

He is the highest-ranked corner in just about any ranking you will find. That doesn't mean he is the best option. They know him better than other teams, so maybe they see the flaws better and pass.

Smith is more about tape than talent. Porter has more physical talent, but Smith is the more polished corner.

Mayer isn't better than Freiermuth. The idea would be for them to play together quite a bit. He does bring different strengths. Mayer is not as athletic as Freiermuth, but he is a better blocker.

The problem with Branch is his skill set is too much like Fitzpatrick's. His downside is probably Mike Hilton, which still wouldn't be awful.

To me the Steelers need to take:

    32. Dawand Jones T
    49. Derick Hall EDGE or Jalin Hyatt WR
    80. Yasir Abdullah LB or Jakorian Bennet CB

For safeties there are several excellent safeties projected to go late Daniel Scott, Jason Taylor, Chamarri Connet, Mekhi Garner who 100% needs to play strong safety, the two guys from Minn, Terell Smith and Jordan Howden, then guys like Izien from RUT and Speed from MSU. I would not worry about the safety early.
