Probably not the athlete for that. Just put 10-15 lbs on him and let him play DE. Seems like the best spot for him.

OK I get Leal, it is a need, and he is a DE not a nose, just think he could be picked later with Cross on the board.

Take your pick to which to root for then.

Why waste effort and energy here if this is the case? Makes little to no sense to me.

I thought it was 3 DL, 2 Edge and 1 MLB for the Nickel.

Kind of looks like it. In the 4th I'm fine with it, not with Cross on the board. Cross has the moxie we have longed for at the SS position.

    Allen.

You see where he is lined up? The DE can't be that wide for the Steelers.

I just looked up his draft profile on Pro Football Draft Network and they had him listed as the 49th best player in the draft. So taking him at #84 was a good value according to them anyway.

Some misses during Kevin's time here for sure. However and again, his successes far outweigh his failures.

Leal seemed slow in what little video I saw of him. Hope he is better than my first impression.

Agreed; It would be a great value if we ran a 4-3.

    Agreed.

Pittsburgh is likely to decline Devin Bush's fifth year option anyhow. Why not prep for the future in nabbing a player like Chenal; one that has a sneaky high ceiling no less.

    PFF on Leal:

Leal may very well end up as the best defensive tackle prospect since Quinnen Williams. That is, of course, if he ends up there. While we don't often see a lot of 290-pound edges in the NFL, Leal has the explosiveness and feel for the position to fill that role with ease at the Next level.

Leal presents so many problems for blockers with his size, explosiveness and easy movement skills. He can throw anything at you.

    His Role:
This still very much remains to be seen. He could have a J.J. Watt-esque positionless career in the NFL where he lines up any and everywhere.

    Where he can improve:
Many of Leal's wins come predetermined. He needs to improve the timing with his hands and counter opposing linemen faster.

    Player comp: Greg Hardy.
