Agree. Especially when you're team relies mainly on zone coverage schemes.

I don't think Nix was in their plans, there was an article saying how they want to use McLendon so they can keep him on the field every down by moving him to end when they use their sub packages. Nix would have to come off the field.

we are building the front seven , our strength for past years , we will look for secondary later or next draft , everybody knows we need at least a couple of good draft to be in the mix again

That's a great point and I tend to agree. Gotta build the team from the ball out.

This. The CB's at 46 were a reach for me, esp sitting next to the talent that was still available.

You don't think a bulked up JJ, Polumalu playing Safety not LB 'cos of Shazier, Shaziers speed, Mitchells speed, improved D-Line play with Tuitt and Heywards continued improvement will have any effect on pass D?

In other words, reach for a 4th round talent at corner just to secure him in the 2nd? I like it!

I like it. They're addressing needs and getting solid players without reaching or trading away picks.

I don't understand why people are so starry eyed about CB's in the Steelers defense. Like I've been saying, various bad performances of the front 7 made them look bad. The organization knows it, and that's why they're fixing it.

Those sayingwe need a corner how about the fact that teams were picking up 6.4 yards a carry outside the tackles.

The Steelers have gone to 3 Super Bowls- largely on the play of their defense- in the past decade without a Pro Bowler at CB. Just saying.

Ravens took a NT, but not Nix.
Does Nix not fit their scheme? Or maybe there is a general reason he hasn't been selected yet?

To those who are worried about corner. This draft is very deep in corners who fit our zone scheme. There will probably be guys available in the 4th and 5th who can help us.

if only we had the 3rd round we trought away last year

btw Tuitt had 21.5 sacks and four forced fumbles in 35 career games.A 3-4 end who can pass rush... rare.

When did the NFL draft become the Academy Awards type of show? A red carpet and it takes 2-3 people to announce a draft pick now we get less analysis and highlights and too many commercials.

I just don't think he's much better than some guys that could be had later. was this more of a knee jerk pick since it is slimmer pickins this year at 3-4 DE? especially since we now have a huge wait and a lot of good talent is going away. oh well mr. tuitt welcome to the Pittsburgh steelers.

I really, really like this pick. When he was 15-20 lbs lighter he was dominant. I wonder if the Steelers will ask him to lose weight? Very happy tonight!

I was just about to pose the question why the Ravens took someone that doesn't really fit what they do. They still run a 3-4, right? I see Jernigan as a 4-3 guy, like Ziggy, but smaller.
