They have the Steelers at over 28 million in cap space as of right now.

I was going by their first line, I see the second line is the effective cap space at over 25 million, I expect it to go up with a few restructures and cuts.

They can free up another 7+ million by reworking Ben’s deal. Basically pushing 7million to 2023. Cutting Schubert will free up a bunch more. We are in the best shape financially in a long time. Should be a fun offseason

Ben is no longer a member of the team. He bacame a free agent when the 2021 season ended. Those voidable years does not mean he still has a contract with the team just like JuJu's contract.

There is not a June 1st cut day for either Ben or JuJu to get those voidable years pushed back until the following season.

I know, this is cap they have available without making any moves, Colbert was speaking about how they haven’t been in this position in a long time.

I posted something last week from over the cap I believe saying that they can get to 65 million if they want to.

@stummerfAn is correct. Look at when Tony Gonzalez ended with the falcons. They tried moving his last year he didn't play into 2 years.

However Tony Gonzalez gave a big middle finger to the Falcons and wanted it all in that single year. And it messed them up (falcon fans don't like admitting Tony did then wrong. But he did big time)

Big Ben could do the same. But honestly I don't think the Steelers are worried about trying to make 2022 into 2 years. We have enough cap to pay him with ease in a single year.

I was under the impression that Bens dead money is now locked in for 2022 because his contract voided after the Super Bowl. Over the cap and the other salary cap sites don’t seem to account for this and are treating it like a normal retirement.

Even if they could move it they probably don’t need to anyway, there should be plenty of room to work with after a few cuts, extensions and restructures.

What an intriguing offseason we have in store, this team can go so many different ways in the draft and gifted agency, which is not usually the case. On the other hand we dont have a QB and that is a depressing thought

It's amazing how much cap space Seattle has with Wilson's contract.

Wentz has near a $30 million hit as well and they have over $40 million in cap space

Correct Ben's contract along with JuJu, and Ebrons was voided by the NFL on Feb 17th. The Steelers can not post June 1st cut Ben because his contract has already been voided.

Not just over the cap. $20,198,340 over the cap.
We've been over the cap before, but never so far that a couple of restructures and cuts of overpriced veterans have given us some working capital. That's a lot of restructuring and cuts to make up $20m

I think it was more of a humorous posting in that the Giants are over the cap and they suck. It's one thing to have a contender and having gone all in, but the Giants..over the cap? WTF?

The Giants roster is a disaster, bad contracts everywhere. They are going to have to tear it down and start again. Kenny Golloday has a cap hit of over $20m, I mean LOL

And they have to be under in slightly less than 8 days. The free agent pool is going to rise.

Now you see why they got rid of their GM, they had a lot of bad contracts.

If Steelers spend wisely, we should be able to upgrade our team quite a bit through FA and the draft . OL,Cb,Ilb, Edge back up on my shopping list.
