Regarding the post, there is every difference.

A gardener is not the garden. A king is not the kingdom. A father is not his child.

NFL Players have far more direct information overall than the fans do. As such, it would be a literal Cheat Code of sorts for them to make stupid amounts of money. This isn't even accounting for the integrity of the game; something that the NFL is already in hot water over for.

Mind you, all four major North American Sports Organizations outright ban gambling as a whole. The NFL isn't doing this to piss off players. The NFL is, as per usual, maximizing as much profits as possible.

This isn't to say there are some silly shenanigans that goes on with such betting; insider trading being chief among them. However, from speaking strictly based on a Players perspective, that isn't something that no league is going to mess with; doubly so in the NFL where 2026 has been nothing but a PR Nightmare.

No its not hypocritical, players can gamble and they can go to casinos, they just cant gamble on the NFL because it would create a major conflict of interest.
