im referring to protecting players, reducing risk of injury from an excessively long schedule and short weeks from TNF. You’ll have more starters and stars playing come playoff time. Thats protecting the integrity - quality of the game.

I personally think it is ridiculous, seems the almighty dollar is more important than quality of play.

Speaking of Player safety... Grass or Turf?

It will be funny to see what happens with this debate now that players who have been told for years that they have to play on turf because of some reason about the stadium or the climate or whatever just watched their field go from turf to grass for the World Cup games

    Players want grass

That is why the Steelers have grass

You can’t do grass in a stadium that doesn’t see sunlight

If I remember correctly from come of your older posts, I think you know more about this Field stuff then I do.

Did you read the article about how Houston used to have a grass field in their dome, and the grass was taken outside to grow after games. I wonder what the cost savings on going from Grass to Turf was.

For the last decade, NRG Stadium, which will be called "Houston Stadium" for the duration of the tournament, has used artificial turf. Prior to that, the stadium, which launched in 2002, had used natural grass that was grown outside the building on trays, which were brought in and pieced together on the field.

    Yep. (From the article)

The solution: grow lights, shipped to Houston from the Netherlands. Twelve large units, four smaller ones, and some fans will create artificial sunlight within NRG Stadium. Even that merited its own issue, Bergstrom said, in ensuring that the system could stay powered throughout the tournament.

If the Steelers installed Carl's grass the Steeler's might not win the Super Bowl, but nobody will care!

The old Astrodome was the first synthetic turf field hence the name AstroTurf. They put the done on partly because of weather but mostly because of mosquitoes.

The last turf field replacement I did was 7 years ago and was right around $1M including turf, drainage upgrade, and shock pad repair.
