Well there is a reason he should have been DPOY 3 times. You take that kinda player away ....it will be different. You should look at the record without Troy P, before the last couple of years in the league . It was horrible, but it evened more out towards the end as we got more used to him not being 100 his old self.

 

In 2009,the steelers did not make the playoffs because Polamalu was out for 12 games(5-7 in those games vs 4-0 with him in the lineup)....They were in the super bowl in the year before and after!

 

Russ doesn't have to be a hero. We have a solid team.

 

You know that if we are winning....the talking heads will come up with some reason why, and try to color it in some way negative. Because of what they've all already said. Like many did in 2020 when we went 11-0....they didn't even want to talk about us because many had predicted us finish last in the division.

 

True but against elite teams, he's going to need to have a great game if the Steelers want to compete with the best.

 

not unless we get into shootouts. i doubt we will. we have a good defense and if we control the ball and keep said elite qb on his bench, we won't have to.

 

Our defense need to prove that they can contain some of the best offense in the NFL....They have not been able to do it lately....Just to look at the fact they gave up over 30 points in each of the last 5 playoffs game

 

And control the ball and clock can be good but it also mean nothing if each time the opposing offense is on the field score....The defense need to do their part too

 

thats why it's a team sport.

 

Wilson will not be the culprit or the problem if the offense struggles. It will be the offensive line.

I expect Wilson to move the ball better than Pickett and Trubisky given his experience and success in the past.... but the OL will hinder his performance.

 

different players playing this year. why do you keep talking about prior years? players change and evolve every season. porter isn't a rookie anymore. patrick peterson isn't here. minkah is healthy. herbig is playing well. ILB changes. safety changes. benton no longer a rookie. #2 corner is different. so is the slot corner. none of these guys had anything to do with what happened in the last 5 playoffs games.

 

They have a hard time grasping the fact the prior years team no longer exists and has no bearing on the upcoming year. We have something like 22 or 24 new players on the team.

 

I have very little expectations to be honest. So everything he does positively is a BONUS for me.

 

My magic 8 ball says they are all wrong. I asked the ball. Will the Steelers go 10-7 with a wildcard spot and it says " YES"

 

It don't matter how many new players a team have when the result are the same every years....Every team have new players,this is not as if the steelers have the most roster turnovers in the NFL

That's interesting. They are team games but 1 player can make a huge difference. That is 1 guy out of 22. Look at the NBA. Jordon on Bulls 3 titles. Tries MLB. Doesn't make it and neither do the Bulls. Jordon back 3 more. If Jordon was trying it now I'm sure Nutting would have made him a Pirate just for the revenue.

 

We have seen this with TJ. When the other guys don't have to dedicate a double team or leave someone in to help with pass protection, they do move the ball more effectively.

Very cool! Season starts Thursday. I've seen some cool NFL hype videos for start of season.

Man I'd love to have them arms but they'd look real odd on a skinny old man.

 

if they are better players it makes a huge difference.
