This is probably fair. The one area of hope I have with Wilson is Smiths offense resembles Pete Carroll’s offense and nothing like Paytons.

Only downside to that is Wilson sucked his last year under Carroll.

When did over 3000 yards 25 touchdowns and 6 ints fall into the suck category? Those are hof numbers compared to what we’ve seen the majority of the last two seasons

Same expectation as before. For Wilson to move the offense down the field better than Pickett and Trubisky.

Wilson had some struggle in 2021 when he was comeback from the hand injury he had,but overall,he was not bad...He had 25 TD,6 INT,YPA of 7.8,QB rating of 103

Better that every QB that the steelers had since 2019

I don't think Wilson can carry a team in every game in a season but I still think he can do this at times

Meaningless numbers. I suppose you think Ben was still good when he retired.

Unless you were living under a rock, everyone knows Wilson’s demise started his last year in Seattle.

Funny that he has such good numbers but two HOF coaches have chosen to move on from him with one team eating a huge amount of money.

    Hey but stats!

Pretty sure I’ve said on more than one occasion here that Ben shouldn’t have returned in 2020. Rooney and Colbert felt otherwise, but that’s not the point. As for your comments about hof coaches wanting him gone that doesn’t appear to be true either. At least not with Pete Carrol.

It's not so as if the seahawks gave Wilson for nothing....They had a major offer from Denver...A big reason why the Seahawks traded Wilson was also they didn't want to pay Wilson 45-50 million a year, not because they thought he was a below average QB since that was not the case after 2021

For Ben,his stats like the passing rating,YPA was one of the worst in the NFL in 2021,so I don't know why you think the stats of Ben was good

Wilsons passing yardage for 2021 season.

    254
    343
    298
    149
    152
    161
    207
    247
    231
    260
    156
    181
    236
    238

Tell me again how that doesnt suck? 1 300 yard game? 5 games under 200 yards.

Go back and review what people were saying about him that season. Some of that was blamed on his injury but considering how he has played since leaving Seattle I’d say it’s due more to his play just diminishing.

I don’t think Ben was good towards the end, you misunderstood.

Everyone likes to point to stats without context. How may of those TD and yards comes because they are playing from behind. He hasnt been a good player for a while now. As turndownforwhat said, we are getting Ben in his last season.

This is true that you did not said that Ben was good in 2021 but I don't agree that Wilson had the same struggle that Ben in 2021 in his last year in seattle

I don't care much about yards,it always need context...Like the seahawks were 31st in pass attempts in 2021....Wilson had 9 games with a QB rating of over 100 in 2021.....I am not sure the steelers have 9 games that their QB had a QB rating of 100 or better since 2019

Can’t argue with that logic. Seemingly Wilson will get the start though.

Majority of NFL players are done after 10 years, yes there are some that continue their career.
The physical nature of the sport is just too demanding on the human body. It starts breaking down.
Steelers very rarely sign anyone to a third contract. And when they do we see the devastating results.
Not to mention, the poor cap management of paying these aging former superstars that stunt the team going forward.

I'm struggling not to agree with You, but I have a few points why I don't.
    1. Ben was better than anything we had in the years since He left...., and anyone arguing different is comical.
    2. I really need R. Wilson to play well, and so I'm 100% behind him, and the biggest reason......drumroll please.....................................I don't want to see J. Fields on the field as our Qb because it will be another 2 more years of trying to make it work....just like they did with KFP, and I know secretly.....that's why You want R. Wilson to be done....so You can have Your RB play Qb. LoL

    correct -

soooo childish just to throw numbers out there like that, without any context.

Wilson is a significant UPGRADE from Kenny (maybe not from Mason.....tee-hee-hee)

but we will see what unfolds here soon!

nobody is saying Wilson will be top 10 QB this season, in terms of gaudy stats.

Run, run, run, occasional deep ball, Pickens making acrobatic catches, average 23.5 points per game...11-6, AFC Championship game. If we can get out at 4-3...and the line gels...we might get to 12-5. Let's go Steelers!

    1) True but that didn’t make him good. At best I think thats all we will get out of Wilson, if that and if Ben wasn’t good enough then Wilson won’t be. He never was and never will be as good as Ben.

    2) Despite you wanting people to go on record about Fields I really have no idea how he will do, I just answered your poll to shut you up :lolol:

But I don’t think Wilson is going to suddenly be a top QB again and think they need to find out sooner rather than later about Fields. I don’t want to settle for a game manager that will get bounced from the playoffs in one game. I want greatness that can go toe to toe with Mahomes and they should find out if that can be Fields or not. Then you can go into the draft with a solid plan.

Has anyone heard from Big Ben this off-season?

There has been no new podcasts, and I have not seen any comments from him this off-season.
