The biggest thing Sony did was going to the developers and listening to them even the small ones. I think games at launch are like 3 to 1 for the PS4. Every article I've read has pretty much said it's just like programming a PC game. I mean come on even Bungie jumped ship. Sony did it right this time. IMO the ps3 was the better system when you included everything it did. I didn't mind paying the 700 dollars at launch due to the blue ray player. At the time an Xbox 360 + a blue ray player would have been more then the ps3. I read a interesting article that basically says even the ps3 was a deal considering the 200 dollars it costed for the Atari would have been over 800 today with inflation. Everybody had to know Sony was coming out swinging this time around and they did and then some.

Here's a cool infographic about the price history of consoles.

Adjusted for inflation, the average game was more expensive too. Crazy.

You guys are making me want to play some COD now. Time to dust off the old games and see how fun they still are.

MW2 is still fin unless you get in a weenie lobby. The rest, not si much. Or rather, it's harder to find a decent lobby.

You're on Xbox though right? I find the hacking, glitching, etc. is worse on Xbox than on PS3. I'm going to play a few different older COD games and see what they look like now. Hopefully the hacking isn't too bad.

I hope to find some nuke boosters though, I love screwing with them. I have a class devoted solely to killing boosters and was quite good at it. I don't know how many times I chased people out of the lobby and had them send me nasty messages. I loved ruining their day

Yeah, I'm on XBox until November when PS4 here I come.

The only hacked lobbies on Live are in CoD4, which I think Live has stopped policing. Booster hunting is always fun. I just didn't expect to see it in TDM in a 4 year old game, or I would have hunted them down sooner. :)

Well, it's official. I plopped down my money on a PS4 today.

Now I need to decide which games to get for launch (besides AC:Black Flag, of course. :D That's already paid for too)

Awesome. I'll probably get a PS3 when your PS4 arrives.

Why would you get a PS3 when you already have a 360? :p

This will be the first time in my life that I'll have a new console when it launches (And like many of us, I remember when video games didn't even exist). I usually only get them 9-12 months after launch. (usually around the time they have their first price drop)

Truthfully, other than missing out on launch titles or being a tad behind with the current on-line shooter du jour, you don't miss much by waiting. I just have an itch this time. :lolol:

I'll be getting all 3 consoles because I always do but now that Microsoft has changed their tune I will probably get Xbox 1 before PS4 but I will get a Wii U before both because I HAVE to have Smash Bros from day one or I might seriously die. I probably won't get PS4 until the new Metal Gear because I'm a die hard fanboy and readily admit it. LOL. Destiny is probably the game I'm looking the most forward to on X1. I also can't wait for Kingdom Hearts 3.

Oh yeah I wasn't even thinking about that. Any multiplayer I will always get on 360 because Live is so much better of a way to play online games. PS3 rules the single player roost though. The Last of Us is the only point I need to argue that statement. Can't brag enough on it. I'm over halfway through and it's one of the most awesome experiences I've ever had in my life with a game and that's saying something.

Got my hands on a PS4 controller this weekend.

HUGE improvement over the old controllers. Good size and fits my hand very well. If I close my eyes, it almost feels like I'm holding an XBox controller (different shape overall, but similar feel other than the sticks not being offset). The sticks also have what feels like the "right" amount of resistance to them. Previous PS controllers always felt way too loose to me. These feel almost exactly like the XBox sticks in terms of resistance with very little "deadzone" wiggle. And the D-pad may be the best I've used in 3 generations.

Seems like the old story of the XBox controllers being clearly superior are over.

Now I'll have to see hw improved their on-line is. I'm sure it won't be as good as the new Live is at first. But I'm expecting that gap to close as well.

Heh. Not yet. Won't have the PS4 until Thursday night. Just got a chance to try out the controller. (I have an in at a certain "unnamed" video game store. ;))

I'm jealous you all got to watch a win yesterday, and I was stuck at work and didn't see a single down. :(

Quite a few bugs apparently. It's getting mixed reviews. I'm not surprised though because this happens every generation. XBone will have probably the same issues for a while.

LOL. I just came up for air and saw this.

The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly:

Picked up my PS4 Thursday night. Came home and set it up. Nothing.

    Blue. Flashing. Light. Of. Death.

They're reporting about a 0.4% defect rate. go figure I get one. :frustrated:

Spend the rest of the night with customer support, or should I say "on hold." Tried a multitude of fixes. Nothing worked. It was a brick.

Fortunately, my "in" at Gamestop forwarded my troubles to the store. Today around lunch, Gamestop called me and said they had a replacement for me. <happy dance>

The new PS4 works great. Looks amazing. The controller is VERY nice (compared to the PS3's controller). I was worried about the large installs needed for games, but the install happens extremely fast. 30-50 gigs in less than 2 minutes? :o

Of course, I still haven't played on-line with all of the PSN+ issues. But I expected that. In my whole gaming life, I've never seen an on-line launch go smoothly. I'll try later tonight.

Fired up COD:Ghosts first because I knew I'd beat the single player game in 4-6 hours (took a little more than 5). That, and I wanted to get accustomed to the controls and feel before venturing on-line. Graphics looked really good compared to the PS3 version. And the campaign was a ton of fun. Even had an epic ending. (Most people seem to hate the ending. I loved it. But then, I loved "The Sopranos" ending too. ;)) Well worth a rental at least if you don't like the multiplayer.

Taking a small break. If I can get a pair of headphones to work (I won't do multiplayer without them) - and get into PSN, I'm going to get destroyed by the young kids on-line. :D If not, my life of a pirate begins. :D

Depends on your definition of bugs.

If you mean faulty hardware, it's less common than the on-line community is making it out to be. And that's coming from a blue flashing light of death victim. :)

But their on-line is having a ton of trouble. And many people are experiencing some issues related to that. The good thing about not being able to play last ngiht is I read a ton on the various issues, and was prepared today. Long story short: don't download ANYTHING on your PS4 until they get more stable. Doing so is like playing russian roulette. That includes the day one update. You're better off DLing it to your computer, saving to a flash drive, and installing it from that.

Yeah that's why I always wait a year for a new console because they just try to rush them out for the holiday season and wind up not being ready for primetime. I always own every console but I'm a way bigger Microsoft fan than I am a Sony fan so I will have an XBone before I get my PS4. I won't need a PS4 until Metal Gear. I'm just really mad at Hideo for not bringing back David Hayter to be Snake. That's just one of the dumbest decisions ever in the history of gaming. I can't wait til November 22 when I get the new Mario 3d World AND a new 3ds Zelda ON THE SAME DAY! As I type this I'm about to jump out of my Mario 3 hoodie with excitement just THINKING about it! That's lame you got a brick though. Hopefully your 2nd one turns out to be solid for a long time.

As expected, I got well and thoroughly trounced in CoD.

    I don't know the maps. Strike 1.

Turns out, those who bought it for the old consoles got to keep their progression. (BAD idea. High levels with everything unlocked running around in easy mode against everyone else). Strike 2.

I think I have a connection issue. Strike 3. It's well known by now that you die FAST in COD:G. But before the guy even shows up on your screen? I'm dead like 3 seconds after going through a door, and the killcam shows me not even making it to the door. I never played with wi-fi before. And that might be my issue. Anyone able to teach me port forwarding for dummies? :lolol: Specifically for the PS4?

That said, PSN+ was working very well tonight. No glitches. No DC issues (at least for me). Fast match making. And no frame loss whatsoever. Ok, that last one is more about the game than the on-line service. But it's true. No lag spikes. No frame loss. And the hit detection was great... when I wasn't in a time machine.

I misworded that warning about DLing. It's fine on the PS4 end. It was PSN having the issues, which then caused trouble for the console.

GTFO really?? Oh man, what an incredible bummer. Christmas morning comes on your 8th birthday and there's a huge box under the tree. It's what you think you've been waiting for. You dig through the ribbons and thick wrapping paper just to find out the box is empty.:lolol:

At least you got it rectified quickly. Graphically, on a scale of 1-10, how does it compare to 360?
