    XBox One vs. PS4.

Wait... I'm sorry. Did I say war?

It's going to be a massacre. PS4 will win this generation going away by default. Forget the fact that it's a stronger GAMING system. All they have to do is literally shut up and take our money.

My mind boggles at how Microsoft has managed to absolutely fumble this generation before they even launch. First there were the early leaks and rumors (most of which turned out to be completely true and then some). Fans expressed disgust at many of their new policies and the forced inclusion of the Kinect. Microsoft then gets caught mocking all of these concerns. Not good, but hey, maybe they were just joking.

Then they make the official announcement. Requires on-line to be able to play. Kinect is always on (in light of PRISM, do we want a camera always on in our living room? This is borderline Orwellian stuff). I don't know any hardcore gamer that gives a flying fig about the Kinect, yet were forced to take it? Forced to pay an extra $100 for a device we do not want? We can't even turn it off? (I'll leave out the huge debate over used, loaned, traded games. Suffice it to say that it's greed, pure and simple). Fans of course are aghast. But Microsoft is the Honey Badger, they don't give a....

But hey, wait for E3. Maybe some more clarification and details will make this look better. You're all just overreacting.

E3 comes, and Microsoft doubles down on their hubris. You will take it. You will accept it. And you'll like it as we bend you over. WE are the future. This is how it is and you have no choice...

Oh, but we do. All Sony had to do was come out on stage and say, yeah, we're not doing any of that.

I can't remember ever seeing a company fail so hard. And they still can't see what people are upset about. Their egos are so huge, they think the great unwashed just doesn't get it, and they keep on doubling down.

Look, I'm no fan of Sony. They've made some questionable moves in the past. I bought the original XBox over the PS2. I didn't even consider the PS3, and was very happy with the 360. I think Live is a great on-line service for smooth gaming and community. I didn't mind at all paying for it. But Microsoft is looking more and more sleazy, unresponsive to customer desires, and downright hostile to their customer base. We're all just overreacting or even conspiracy theorist for some of our concerns.

Really? At least once or twice a year, I'll be forced to go 1-3 weeks without internet service due to storms. Very often, I'm left with no cable as well. But as long as I have power, at least I have my games for entertainment. Not with the XBox Done.

How many people have had their webcams hacked? Anybody paying attention to PRISM? Do we really want a device with a camera that's "always on" connected to the internet in our living rooms or bedrooms? Sure, it's possible nothing bad would ever happen. But the potential is there for the worst kinds of intrusion of privacy. Frankly, I'll be shocked if we go even a year before the first stories come out about some poor sap getting recorded in an unflattering way via the XBone.

I had hoped that the huge backlash would force MS to reconsider. Either it's too late in development to do so, or they flat out don't care and think people will buy them anyway because they worship at the altar of Microsoft.

Well, I, for one, do not reward bad behavior. It's a shame. Bill Gates is no longer running things there and it shows. PS4, here I come.

(dammit. I hate PS controllers too. Say what you will, but the XBox controllers were always superior)

It will be interesting to see how many people actually jump ship and buy PS4 vs how many just rattle their sabers.

So, those rumors are true then? I haven't looked into it really, but you're cracking me up with the Xbox nicknames. :lolol: I did see where that smug Micro$oft exec was fired over his Tweet.

I saw a cool video the other day showing off what the PS4 engine can do, and I was pretty impressed. I'll say that if what I'm hearing is true, I'd get a Wii U over the new Xbox, and that says a lot.

Here is that demo I was talking about. It's NSFW (language), and long, but it shows off what the PS4 is capable of. The demo is kind of funny, too. You may want to watch it in full screen HD.

I don't think it's sabre rattling. The PS3 went down a rocky path at launch too. And that was more about price point than anything. Sure, the die hard fanboys bought it anyway. But PS3 didn't start catching up to the 360 until they made some changes.

Amazon has already sold out of their pre-orders for PS4. Ad they're saying the PS4 out paced XBox by over 2 to one.

Of course, there's still time for MS to reconsider things and make a few changes. If they do, their fans who will jump ship might also reconsider. But the way they've acted the past few weeks? I wouldn't hold my breath.

Their biggest mistake is forcing the user to take and use the Kinect. That right there is the cause of the huge price imbalance. Another ding against them.

Man Ray you KNOW I'm heartbroken! I have every system and 3ds but Microsoft was my favorite in this generation. I'm a life long Nintendo fanboy but they abandoned me long ago to appease housewives or whoever it was they were trying to reach with Wii. Don't get me wrong though. Their 1st party titles will still forever sell me a system. I knew Microsoft was gonna do this and it's really sad. Cliffy B even came out in support of Microsoft and I was like "dude just shut up. you created the sawed off shotgun and tdm in gears and totally ruined the most awesome shooter of all time!" He's about the ONLY person coming to their defense. Sony has won by default. All they had to do was position themselves as the anti xbox and they would win and they did exactly that and people are eating it up if for nothing else but a protest of Microsoft. No console is ever worth buying at launch anyway but I will probably get a ps4 at launch just to jack it up on ebay because all the call of duty fanboys will eat it up because they have yet to realize they've been buying the same game since Modern Warfare. LOLOLOL!!! Call of Duty is the new Madden where they add a new map, change some color schemes, and give an extra "perk" and call it a "new" game every November and those guys line up everrrrrry single time. It's like my little boy watching the same exact episode of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse over and over. I'm the most pumped for Kingdom Hearts 3 and Dark Souls 2 because I'm a Dark Souls fanatic. Say a bad word about Dark Souls around me and I will seriously put a spell on you that will make all of your children be born naked! I love it THAT much!

it's an overrated game that OCD types like to play. It's unnecessarily difficult just to keep people frustrated. Only those with no life whatsoever like it.

Go ahead. I'm done having kids. ;)

Kidding aside, it's actually a good game. And it hasa large and devoted fan base.

You're right about COD. But it's still fun. I do think it's on its way out though. It's so"last generation. " ;)

Hey dude as long as she doesn't look like the milk man it's all good right? LOL! As far as Dark Souls goes it is DEFINITELY for those who have no life and also with a case of OCD. LOL. The difficulty scales with every time you beat it through 8 times and I've done it completely. THEN that wasn't enough so I was so obsessed that I became what's called a "1Bro" which means that you have to play through the whole game without leveling up and it's one of the most awesome challenges I've ever taken and actually it was the most fun I've had with the game. I have over 400 hours in it and for this generation of "beat them in a few days and trade them" that's really saying something. I think Ray is right about COD being on the way out. I've got a buddy that's a devotee and he said that Black Ops 2 was such a disappointment that he thinks it might effect the sales of Ghost. I doubt it but we'll see. I honestly think they should just make a single engine and just let you buy the disc with it and then every November just update it with the new "game" which would really be dlc ya know? I think they should do that with Madden as well because when you go in to a game store and look in the bargain bin it's full of Madden's from like 9 months ago because the next one is out. I don't think it would be such a bad idea if everyone had access to the internet.

I've had Xbox ever since I stopped playing with the PS1, but damn Microsoft is making it pretty hard to stay with them. Probably a PS4 is in my future unless Microsoft changes its ways.

So, it's kind of like a console version of WoW? I kid, I kid.

I have black ops 2 and I thought it was pretty good. It was a lot better than the first one, for me anyway. The online play was unimpressive, but that's Black Ops for ya. You're totally right about COD. They recycle maps and just change from winter to summer for the most part, adding in a new one here and there. It's fun though, and I'd probably keep playing them if they kept going with the series for 360- MW4 MW5 etc. :-D

That's where I'm at too, basically. I never had an original xbox, though. I was a PS1 and PS2 user, then picked up the 360 when it came out and never got a PS3.

I tried sticking with Sega when they went from the Genesis to the Saturn. I loved my Saturn, but it never got the support that the PS1 did, so I ended up skipping the Dreamcast and going with a PS2 and currently the PS3. Just having stuck with Sony for the last 2 generations, I'm glad that they're approaching this release the way they are.

I hadn't seen the clip posted above yet, but wow, that looks amazing.

Was going to post an image, but for some reason the source URL doesn't actually link directly to the image:

Somebody was telling me about this and we were having a good laugh. He said "have you seen the video of how to share a PS4 game?" and I said "no but it's probably just one guy handing a game to another guy" and he said "that's EXACTLY what it is!" and we were laughing about it. This is funny for sure.

NO! IT IS NOOOOOTHING LIKE WOW!!!!!!! LOL!!! As far as COD being fun that's sorta the thing about it is that it's just sort of a diversionary thing that people just pick up and play and aren't really looking for some mindblowing experience or an artistic story with deep characters. It's basically like interactive 80s action movies where the plot is shallow, the characters are shallow, the gameplay is derivative, but it helps you escape reality for a little while and for some people that's all they want out of games ya know? Which is totally fine. My buddy is a die hard Black Ops 1 fan and really panned 2. But the thing is that he's really good at Black Ops and if he's good at a game he really likes it. But if he has one bad experience with a game he hates it forever. He's REALLY unforgiving. LOL.

Battlefield 3 is actually not that bad. It's got WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY less campers than the boy scouts that set up camp all over every cod map. The maps are a little bland on BF3 though. I'm just glad ea did away with the online pass. As if they need the money. I think they're basically like my favorite character of all time, Scrooge McDuck, that has a money bin and literally swims in it every morning. LOL.
