Yes we get it Jack, relax. Some of us just don't agree completely with your point or delivery. Letting the patsies embarrass this team with record points and yards against a team known for consistently dominating defenses is more telling to me about the irony of this season. And if we want to focus on 2 plays in a single game as the reason this team is not in the playoffs, then let's look at then other 7 losses. Surely we can find one or two plays in each of the 8 losses that we could point to and say, if only that didn't happen, we would have won. But to pick 1 loss out of 8 and highlight the kickers misses in that game as the reason this team isn't 9-7 doesn't make sense. The Miami game has been mentioned, the step out of bounds by AB. How about the rushing performance against the crappy titans in week 1. Did the steelers even rush for 50 yards that game. How about fumbles and INTs by Ben in other losses? This is just a stupid thread with some misplaced angst against a kicker who has done a damn good job this season.

Knox, you keep accusing me of bashing Suisham or having a "misplaced angst" against him. I haven't bashed him and I don't have any angst whatsoever toward him! He has done a phenomenal job this year but those two misses have turned out to be pretty crucial. Forgive me for committing the unpardonable sin of pointing that out! And, with all due respect, to continue to accuse me of bashing Suisham tells me that you really don't get it! Obviously, there are multiple reasons that we won't make the playoffs this year, I get that. Thank you for doing such a nice job of pointing several of those reasons out. I don't disagree with any of them. Now why don't we both relax and move on from this "stupid" thread?!

Breath, let it out. Just let this thread die out. Some people just don't follow your line of reasoning and it's getting to the circular argument here.

There's a difference in bashing Suisham and blaming him for not making the playoffs, and merely pointing out that, had he made those two chip shots in Oakland, in all likelihood we'd be in with a win against the Clowns this weekend.

And if Redman hadn't fumbled, and Ben didn't throw a pick, and AB didn't step out, and if Sanders had caught the TD, and if the D could have stopped the run in 1 out of 8 losses, and if the OL was better conditioned, and if Tomlin had better prepared, and if time management didn't suck, etc. Blaming the kicker for this team not being in the playoffs because you claim he single handedly lost 1 game because he missed 2 field goals out of 8 losses IS bashing him. You have dedicated an entire thread to talking about this team not making the playoffs because the kicker missed 2 FG's. Just seems like you are pointing a finger at one guy for one bad day when there are a heck of a lot more fingers that can and should be pointed elsewhere. How about blaming Tomlin for not having this team prepared to start the season.... again....

It would be like me blaming someone for me getting fired because they had a blow out on the highway and stopped up traffic and caused a backup, which made me late for work. Never mind that I had been late 30 times in the last 6 months prior to that. But yeah, its that dudes fault.... whatever, I'm done with this ridiculous thread.

Two missed field goals by a reliable kicker during mid-season? I understand the irony, but I'd agree with others that you sound like you are blaming Suisham just by merely pointing out the missed kicks.

The most telling stat line to me was in the first game of the season.... I don't recall exactly what the time was, but near the end of the 3rd quarter, they posted the Steelers total offensive production in the neighborhood of 97 yards total offense through nearly 3 whole quarters. That game really set the tone for the regular season.

Of course, the more telling stat to me is the home loss to a Miami Dolphins team in the snow..... against a Ryan Tannehill that had NEVER played in the snow....EVER. How does that happen, and it'll possibly be the team that could take that 6th playoff spot away from the Steelers, that to me, is irony.

    LOL! :roflmao:

Jack, you have the right game but wrong play, take away Pryors 90 yard gallop and we are in with a win against Cleveland Sunday. What are the freaking odds of that play ever happening???

Like I said, Knox, I am not bashing Suisham! By my count, you've accused me of that 4 times now and I have denied it each time. I guess I need to declare you the message board mind reader since you claim to know my motivation for this thread. I've attempted to explain my motivation but for some reason you refuse to believe me and only want to believe that I have a personal vendetta against Suisham and that I'm taking my anger out against one of the most reliable kickers in the league this year. In looking at my OP, maybe I should have explained it a little better rather than essentially only posting the stats and stating that we'd be missing the playoffs. Maybe I should have said that had Suisham made those kicks, we MAY be getting ready for the playoffs with a win Sunday. All of the other stuff notwithstanding, that is a true statement.

You feel free to believe what you want, my friend, but I am not bashing Suisham nor do I have any angst toward him. I pointed out that had Suisham made those kicks, in all likelihood we win the Raiders game and we're in the playoffs with a win this weekend. As I stated above, you have pointed out several other plays/scenarios that, had they unfolded differently, would have caused a more positive outcome and may have resulted in us being in the playoffs. And as a result, you've blamed Redman, AB, Ben, Sanders, Tomlin, DL, our defense and others for us missing the playoffs. At least by your reasoning. Let's just both say that all of these things contributed to us missing the playoffs. And I agree, this has turned out to be a ridiculous thread to which you have been a major contributor with your RIDICULOUS ACCUSATIONS!

Can't argue with that, Blast. That play still ticks me off big time. The fact that we weren't ready for a Pryor run...

TTF -- PASS THE POPCORN! :lolol:

Truce. You brought up some valid reasons as to why the Steelers will probably miss the playoffs this year. "The kicks" were an ironic component of this pathetic excuse for a season, along with the other things you and others correctly pointed out. I hope we sneak into the playoffs but if not, I'm ready to put this pitiful 2013 season behind us and start rebuilding for number 7! Happy New Year and God bless!

The Pro Bowl was cool to attend back in the early 90's when I was stationed in Hawaii but now I don't really keep track of it. It is still a ratings draw but on life support.

And if we could actually tackle terrelle pryor instead of making a qb look like adrian Peterson. ......for that matter, if we could actually tackle adrian Peterson. ....... or if we could only have made matt cassell look like matt cassell instead of johnny u..... or maybe if we actually could run the ball on chicago, which has the worst run d in the league .... or if our defense would stop avoiding danny amendola like the plague

    Damn, I'm depressing myself

The biggest reason for not making
the playoffs is you can't lose to
inferior teams, How often do you see the
Pats lose to inferior teams.Hence they are
always in the playoffs. This is where your elite
QB comes into play. Brady and Manning
usually always pulls these games out. What
about our 102 QB? Ben should have
won both of these(Vikes & Raiders).

Really did Ben give up 34 points to matt cassel? ---he did throw for 384 yds and led a furious comeback...

Did Ben give up a 90 yd TD run to terrell Pryor on the opening snap of the game?

Did Ben miss two chip shot FGs in Oakland that would have given us enough Points to win that game?

Our 102 mil Qb is going to throw for 30 TDs and 4300 yds..

Our million $ Defense is #22 ranked in Run D---

    Thank you!

I'll add to that too, how quick people forget that Allen and Williams abused Mike Adams in those two games, and the rest of the line didn't play much better. Putting those losses on Ben is a joke.
