Woof, pretty strong criticism from national analyst.

I understand what he's saying, but there's no way that play should've counted. Elliot did poor job in coverage and the ref missed a blatant push-off. I'm the first to say the D needs a better scheme, but that play should've worked in their favor. Receivers are open on a lot of plays, pressure and coverage on early progressions are key on blitzes.

And I would also add the rest of the story to those fans of other teams that it's only 4 seasons with an actual win in the postseason. In his 18 seasons, he missed postseason completely 6 times and was 1 and done 8 times. So that's 14 seasons without a playoff win. People can cherry pick stats to support almost any narrative.

Well, I doubt that happened Butler was promised the job when LeBeau was gone. Then Tomlin is going to screw him over by taking over play calling, Arthur Moats said Tomlin would only make a few calls a game not the entire game BTW.

Bouchette, another long time beat writer (since retired) said when they hired Austin that Tomlin should give up the play calling, I’m guessing thats what probably happened.

If your schemes are flawed, doesnt matter who is calling the plays.

    Guys…don’t worry.

We are going to unleash hell in November, and it will be historical.

That's fine. Like I said, I don't really care who calls the plays as long as they're successful. I don't know why a coach would bring in a coordinator only to have call plays or override what they call, but Tomlin has admitted to doing that at times.

You don't think offensive head coaches over ride their OC sometimes.

I do. Some still call most of the plays - I'd just think that ideally that's not the way you'd want to do it. But when the situation dictates, yeah, you overrule a particular call.

There's no real way for us to know just how much Tomlin may have called over Butler. Like I said, it doesn't matter much to me. I just wish he'd get better coordinators in place (Smith I'm alright with).

Truthfully, it doesn't matter to me who calls them either. What really matters is the plays aren't getting communicated to the rest of the defense right. I don't know if this is PQs fault or Austin's fault. Changing the green dot from PQ just might solve a lot of our problems and if they persist, especially on a communication standpoint, then we gotta look at removing Austin from playcalling duties.

You believe these dipshits but not Butler :lolol:

Anyway, I’m sure Austin is calling the plays now but Tomlin was before.

Dipshits who cover the team daily don't know what they're talking about oh okay . You ever think Butler was forced out and had an axe to grind.

It was clarified Butler was not correct in the regard people want to take

But people would rather stick to the conspiracy

Even if Tomlin doesn’t call the plays…it is still Tomlin’s defense. Austin is calling plays based on Tomlin’s direction.

I trust Bouchette more and some of the other beat writers who have backed it up over whoever these clowns are.

We disagree on this, Jeh. Ive read the whole interview, not just parts that could be taken out of context. I’ve also seen beat writers back it up, even Bouchette who confirmed it in a round about way when Austin was hired and he said Tomlin should concede the play calling to Austin because he has too much on his plate. Im paraphrasing but that was the gist of it.

Anyway, people are dug in on this and will believe what they want. Doesn’t matter, whoever is calling it the defense still sucks.

Who cares who calls the plays. It's Tomlin's team, he hired Austin, he's kept Austin around, and he just said he is largely pleased with Austin and plans to keep doing what they've been doing. "We just got to keep doing what we're doing and do it better."
