the longest drive in 45 years

Just read that the Steelers' 11 minute plus drive in the 3rd Quarter was their longest TOP drive in 45 years- which would make that 1977. That was one strange season to be sure. I remember most of the games that year but I am blanking on which one - did anyone see/hear what team it was against? I have the media guide for that season, so I suppose I could go look it up myself.

As I texted a longtime fan friend at the time- that was a drive of a lifetime- and it really was!

Nope, gotta give credit where credit is due but it doesn't erase the fact that Canada MUST go ASAP.

 

Tough to do that on a regular basis though. The more plays in a drive the more of a margin for error. I’d like to see these to close out games but it would be nice to also demonstrate a big play capable offense with some nice chunk plays from time to time. But hey, that’s a Matt Canada offense…ball control, a lot of pre-snap motion, misdirection, short passing. Not necessarily a lot of splash plays.

 

If they can master the little things the splash plays will come. A lot of big play dropped passes and missed throws throughout the season…that’s on the execution, not the play call.

They had a great game today despite missing 1/3 of the field. Mitch can’t throw over the middle and everyone knows it. Yet, they were productive.

 

At this point I don’t think he will be gone. Today is a prime example of the offense Rooney asks for every offseason.

 

Yeah, if he would only realize this is against a team like the Panthers. You have to be able to throw to catch up late a game.

Agree. If you could do this every time you'd be an offensive genius. Unfortunately, it usually only takes one holding penalty or big negative play to ruin a drive like this. It is awesome when it works like today though.

Funny thing about the drive last Sunday was that it is credited as being 91 yards. But if you add in DJ’s 15 yard penalty it was actually 106 yards.
