Browns are an historic franchise that has never won a Super Bowl or even been to one. They have accumulated alot of talent so the NFL Media will always cheer for those types of teams. But the bias is getting to be very obvious and ridiculous at this point.

Watt had plenty of Superstar Caliber element to him coming into the league for the simple reason of his last name. He was sort of unproven but still. Its crazy he lasted to the end of the first round. I was hoping the Steelers would draft him but never expected him to last to our pick.

So out of my whole post thats your argument? So Mr. Cleveland Fan where di you get that information? Do you realize how flawed the whole double team metrics is according to PFF. Alex Highsmith actually is grookie raded as having a higher double team percentage than Watt according to PFF. Think about that for a second logically. Do you really think opposing offense playing the Steelers game plan to double team Highsmith more than they do Watt. I mean Highsmith did outperform Garrett over the last 7 games of the season. Heck our backup edge had more sacks than Garrett did over the last 7 games. I digress... so answer to my question is no teams do not game plan to double Highsmith more than Watt. They in fact actually do double Watt more than Highsmith but PFF metrics doesn’t recognize them.

Watt rushes from the offense right side which is the QB’s open or visible side. As a result the TE or RB that is doubling up with the OT to block Watt is asked to release off of Watt and fo into the flat to receive a dump off over Watts head. This is how the opposing offense defeats Watts pressure. When the RB or TE is blocking the blindside edge like Garrett or Parsons or Highsmith they are asked to maintain that block longer because the QB can’t see the release as readily because it is his blindside so no sense in having them release sooner. So as a result even though Watt was indeed double teamed it is not recognized by PFF like the blindside Edge players are. Its just a way in how PFF grades it which is totally subjective and up to the judgment of the individual doing the grading. In addition Watt will often start out rushing then recognize the second blocker is releasing and he will drop into coverage if he thinks the Qb is going to try to dump it over his head. In these instances not only is Watt not given credit for the double team but he also is be docked for a failed pass rush win rate because he started out rushing but then he dropped into coverage and didn’t complete the rush. So the metrics for him get double skewed.

But keep on following PFF and their fake metrics if thats what makes you happy. Thats the closest thing you guys will ever get to winning is having PFF love on you guys.

Hmmm, because I pointed out an error in your numbers, I am now a Browns fan? OK then...

(btw, I am well aware of PFF analysis and biases. Try ESPN's PRWR if you don't like PFF. They have a very simple definition to compare players on pass rushing. Note that neither metric is all that great.)

    Not true about Watt.

Part of the reason Watt fell, outside of having only onw productive season at Wisconsin, was there were a number of flaws in his game. The most notable coming out was his supposed lack of twitch. For that matter, overall power was another major concern for Watt coming out.

The likes of Lance Zierlein, Charlie Campbell, and others said much of the same. For that matter, the Pro Comps at the time were respectable but not of SuperStar quality.

Funny stats....Garrett had more offsides that tackle in the playoffs game vs Houston!

I stand corrected. I was strictly going off of name and production his senior season.

    All good sir! :drinks:

If anything, I am with you; me and @Blast Furnace@Blast Furnace had a spirited debate about this way back during the 2017 Pro Day Cycle. I had advocated for Obi Melifonwu for I thought he would be a great Strong Safety. Blast opted for T.J. Watt.

Neither of us had any disagreement with T.J. Watts overall ability to play the position. What we disagreed was Draft Capital. I was on record in saying TJ wouldn't get past Arizona; Pick number 11 overall at the time. If he somehow did, Green Bay would have been the team. Thankfully, I ended up being wrong on both ends.

The first was TJ Watt falling all the way to pick number 30. The second was Obi Melifonwu himself; a draft bust.

Too many signs were pointing to that direction. Thank Ted Thompson for overvaluing Kevin Greens position; something he would correct (sort of) with Rashan Gary.
