We don't need to worry about CB depth or skill. You don't need to put any kind of priority on CBs, just ask Tomlin, Colbert and LeBeau. Your entire backfield can be all 5th round or later scrubs. You never have to put any more priority on CB than that. Frick, we draft punters earlier than CBs.

 

Obviously fans liked him more than the staff.

you like to lay all that blame on the current head coach and gm, but their predecessors weren't any better. chad scott, Bryant McFadden, and scott shields were the only ones picked in the top 2 rounds if I recall. maybe ricardo but don't remember

 

Losing McCain no big deal, they need a talent upgrade at CB anyway.

Kinda sad we lost McCaine. If the Draft doesn't go in our favor we at least need some insurance to hedge our bets.

If Cortez doesn't rebound that doesn't leave us with much.

 

He played pretty well to me

 

He did and got himself a good contract by doing so.

 

McCain was a breath of fresh air after the Cortez Allen meltdown. Stepped in. Was hoping for him to be resigned. Yea they can do better but he played quite well when called on.

 

At $2.75 million per for 2 years, he didn't exactly break the bank.

If we had paid McCain that much, the combined cap value of our top 4 CBs (Allen, Gay, McCain & Blake) would be slightly more than the cap number for Brandon Carr of the Cowboys. We're just not investing much money (or picks) at the CB position.

 

we need starters and this crap about hoping cortez comes around is just not cutting it. we have absolutely no real plan in place as of now. willie gay is only under contract for one more year also. he could demand some bigger money if he has another season like last year. Patrick robinson? really?

 

Yeah, keep McCain and then focus on getting someone to pair up. For the price I'd have kept him but what do I know? Apparently they think he's not worth the red tag.
