If our offense was anything better than anemic vs. the Raiders, we wouldn’t be having discussions about our defensive challenges last week - even with the injuries.

Having to rely on special teams or the D to score is a horrific thought.

    I doubt that.
I seen a guy trying 2 say Our Offense lived off D. Turnovers last year...only reason we had a winning season. That actually may have worked.....except all the Top winning teams were within 1 , or 2 total Turnovers same as us, and One had even more.
I laugh at how things applied 2 our team is bad, but when applied 2 other teams are good.
These comments are not aimed at You....I just used Your comment as a jumping board.

    Hey chris2fer.

I do not think that you and I have ever chatted before. So, "Hello" my friend.

Yes, it is a "horrific thought" but right now those two "Sub-Units" may be all that we have going for us right now; especially the Front-7 on Defense.

Look at composition of the Front-7 Defensive Sub-Unit as of today compared to that of Opening Day (Bills' game).

    • Alualu: Gone for the year. Ugh!

    • Watt: Totally useless to us the past two games

    • Bush: Dealing with a groin injury.

    • Highsmith: Dealing with a groin injury.

    • Tuitt: Still nowhere to be found.

Also, although not a Front-7 member, Haden is not at 100% as he is dealing with a groin injury.

Also, where are Ingram and Schobert? AKA, The brilliant pick-ups.

In short, the Front-7 on Defense is/was the only functional Sub-Unit on this team. With them intact, IMO, we would have a chance in each game week by week as the other Sub-Units started to mature along. Now what? They have to get back together in full-strength ASAP. Even then, there is no Alualu. He is a very substantial loss that greatly diminishes the overall strength of the Front-7. What do they do about him?

I would like to think that if the Defensive Front-7 that played in the Bills’ game was fully intact for the past two games, maybe the outcomes would have been different.

It’s the only positive about this team that’s for sure. All the injuries are a lot to ask to overcome.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again. Anyone lining up on the other side of Watt will look like a stud. Take Watt out of the equation, that OLB is very average. Just go ask Bud Dupree
