The Chargers Ran The Ball More Effectively.

    It is not rocket science. A team has got to be able to run the ball effectively if they are going to be a winner in the NFL, or at any level. The statistics for the game look pretty damn even. The Chargers only had 85 yards total rushing, compared to the Steelers 65. But, the Chargers ran the ball more effectively. In the 3rd quarter, they were down 23-7, but they didn't panic, and start throwing the ball on every down. They took their time, and established the run. That is when the game shifted in their favor. When Ken Whisenhunt, the Chargers Offensive Coordinator, was here in Pittsburgh, he was an advocate of a balanced attack. An offense with a balanced attack is what won Super Bowl 40 for us. The game has changed since then, but the run is still very important and a team has to have a running game that they can rely on. Even with James Conner (Now injured), the Steelers haven't shown that they have that running game that they can go to with confidence. And, that is a big problem.
