The Bengals did not screw the Steelers, the Steelers screwed the Steelers if they wanted Jackson and didn't move up to get him. In any case, time will tell which player develops in to the better DB. Good luck to Burns and welcome to the Steelers!

If the Steelers weren't completely sold on Burns, they probably wouldn't have selected as quickly as they did, and instead, listened to potential offers. Maybe they did have Jackson ahead of Burns, but it obviously wasn't enough to want to move out of the draft position and potentially lose out on Burns.

We had a contingency plan in place. And it was a good one. Hats off to Colbert for having foresight enough to have one.

Will always be interesting to compare the careers of Jackson III, Burns, Fuller and Alexander.

Exactly! It's so ridiculous I have a hard time accepting that anyone really thinks that.

I imagine that if most mocks had him in the top 15, most people would be doing cartwheels. Funny how that works.
Into your life it will creep.

Only a fool would think an NFL GM is going to pick a player solely on what a team behind them may or may not do.

This means that the real victim here is William Jackson III. Think about it, the poor kid thinks he's about to go to the best franchise in all of professional sports... and instead he goes to the lowly Bengals

    The guy's gotta be heartbroken.

Funny, but the 3 year age difference makes this a LOT less painful to me. Someone who loves to watch tape, go back and evaluate Jackson in his junior year. Compare the 2 and see which one has the most upside. I bet the 2 years younger kids tape looks just as good.

I think we should have a moment of silence for WJ3.............. Ok, now that that's done. Sorry WJ3, through no fault of your own, you are now the enemy! :smashbengals:

As much as I hate the Bengals and acknowledge the shoddy spitefulness of their entire organization, I don't see a true conspiracy here.

Cincy did not go into this draft wanting Jackson there. They wanted a WR- and what, four of them got taken head? They do need a CB- doesn't everyone- because their own starters are on the decline and they have to try and defend us twice next year.

So, although many of us- myself included- preferred Jackson to Burns, would you rather go into a season with the Bengals having, say, Fuller against us or Jackson? That call is easy for me.

Fuller doesn't seem to be well regarded considering the way he's fallen.

Did the bungals do it again with choosing billings? It seems to me that the bungals are drafting from our scouting reports

Very easy. I'd rather face Fuller any day of the week. Kinda sucks they got Jackson, but with no WR on the board it doesn't shock me they went CB. Kirkpatrick isn't really that good, Dennard has failed to live up to his selection. And the rest of their CBs are old.

Yes, they managed to spookily pick a D-lineman we turned down to pick another after we'd done it.

    I like our draft
I don't like cincy and I don't understand why people care who they draft.
So they took a guy we would like to have. I can think of 20 guys I would like to have but I like the guy we got. He us a steeler. I done forgot about cincy

I think he was talking about having to defend against Will Fuller's speed. I had read somewhere that the Bengals liked him in the 1st, but Houston grabbed him at 21.

I was, thanks. The Bengals upgrading at WR is more threatening to us at this point in history then their adding a CB who will likely sit for a year.

The Bengals didn't screw the Steelers, they probably drafted WJ III because Kirkpatrick is in his contract year and has been a disappointment. WJ III was probably the highest rated player on their board after all the WRs were gone in the 1st.

Who cares anymore? We are the Steelers; people are envious because we set the bar. We are the premier franchise in this league. And we are not cheating to do it! We had a good draft and now its about coaching up our newest players. GO STEELERS!!!!!!!!
