I know there was another thread somewhere about this topic but can't find it. The new league (Alliance of American Football) starts play this Saturday with some games (my understanding) on NFL Channel and some on CBS Sports Channel. A natural sponsor would be of course be AAFFLAC. The League's name sounds like the dream child of Karl Marx and Lenin. Something else worthless to do on weekends until the NFL draft and MLB starts up.

Wow so pretty cool names of coaches and players. I always like Aaron Murray and wished we could have drafted him. I am not gonna lie if it is on and the weather is bad I will watch but I am not gonna plan my day around it. Thanks for the post

A lot of interesting people behind this league, lets see if they can field enough quality players
    to make it watchable.

IMO, if the officiate it like the NFL it will never last. People are hooked on the NFL and even though many say they are done they always come back. This league don't have that juice and if the calls are the same as the NFL people will turn on the NASCAR race or Golf for something else. JMO

I am looking at the Atlanta Legends, I like Murray and actually think Hill could have been a good WR if he didn't end up a Jet...lol. I do love the Fleet's and Hotshots unis. The Iron and the Fleet have some nice X Steelers on there. One thing I liked about your link was this:

In addition to these familiar names in charge of each team, former Steelers safety Troy Polamalu will serve as the league’s Head of Player Relations and Hines Ward is the league’s Head of Development.

Would be nice to see these guys in our front office soon........

Yeah I'm leaning towards Birmingham Iron , even though they have the worst odds. I like what one of the guys said in his comment after the article. I guess I have a soft spot for ferrous metals....something like that.
That's hilarious.....quite a few ex-Steelers on that squad and coached by Tim Lewis who I'm pretty sure has Pittsburgh ties....too bad there's no North East team or I would root for them.

Interesting thing, I set my DVR to record all the upcoming AAF games and the when I checked, the pre-set recording time is only 2.5 hrs vs 3 hrs+ for NFL games. Does this mean fewer TV timeouts? Fewer anticipated penalties? Shorter halftime? Clock keeps running on incomplete passes and/or OB plays? Shorter allowed time between plays? Or just general efficiency optimism?

they said there is a shorter play clock and less full screen TV timeouts. so it will be a split screen - commercial/game i guess.

I was disappointed when he skipped, maybe he will open some scouts eyes in this new league?

Never heard of most of these guys - probably didn't stay in Pittsburgh long enough for an ICB and and an Isaly's Chipped Ham Sammy.

Lewis was DC for the steelers and then he was the DC for the giants, I dont think he was very good DC for either team....
