I really wanted Dunn to work out, but I can't see it happening. In terms of the competition around him (at WR or RB), he hasn't shown enough to warrant dropping anyone else.

Really, though, Heath's injury (as well as Spaeth's) is having an extra impact here. The TE spot is easily the weakest, and we seem to be forced to keep a number of guys around at the expense of potential playmakers.

As I stated in another thread, he has to to more than play tonight. I think he needs to take one to the house to guarantee himself a spot. Fingers crossed!

i'm not sure carter has earned a spot as some think. pre camp I thought he was a lock too, but maybe not. I didn't see JJ playing like he has either this early, but I , like a lot of people have been impressed. I will say from watching carter this year , he is close to getting to the qb quite a bit but as we know close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades. maybe we go with the young baxter instead?

Costly- not in the same realm as if we had traded Timmons but if we cut Jones then we just gave away a young talented OLBer who was on our 53 last year and did nothing to prove he wouldn't make it again this year.

Carter- I just finished re-watching the KC game..... he made a play but I just didn't see him shine. I then read the article steelersdepot has on him and honestly- I'm getting the feeling hasn't shown what I was thinking he had. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets cut and we keep Baxter.

    Cajun-

    Agreed..
I don't view it as being costly either and Cajun seems to be on board with that as well.. We gave up a guy that is going to be replaced by Baxter for a RB that we're kicking the tires on. Although I must admit I thought he was a sure cut but after Tomlin's latest response I'm not so sure. Good trade for the Steelers any way you slice it IMO.

Dunn is history. Will LSH be our return guy? I REALLY don't wanna risk AB getting hurt returning kicks. I say Moye makes the team for sure.

Yeah we already have one Gay too many. This team doesn't need anymore Gay's. I'm honestly not trying to discriminate but I just don't think we need anymore Gay's. We have enough Brown's on this team too so I don't think we need anymore Brown's. I would like to see us have one less Brown as well.

I have no problem with the safety....it was his last shot to make a play...normally you just fair catch inside the 10.....had he done that...everyone would be saying all he does is fair catch.....

    I keep 6....Moye and Dunn

I say no way Dunn makes this team. I just don't think he's done enough to show he deserves a roster spot.

I just don't think return man is as important as it used to be. How many kickoffs actually get run back by anyone? There were about 10 kickoffs tonight and 2 returns. On punts, it is great to have a difference maker guy like Ginn, but the most important part is just having a guy who catches the ball and doesn't drop it. We have lots of guys who can do that.

What's really amazing about watching the preseason is you see just how great the first stringers are as opposed to the guys just TRYING to make it who aren't scrubs by any means when compared to the average person. But the distance between 1st stringers and practice squad guys or guys that just get cut outright is pretty astounding really.

I thought he has shown enough flash and dash to be the main returner...both kick and punt...I thought he looked good on the reverse to start the game...and you put Brown, Sanders, Wheaton, and Dunn in 4 wides...you are gonna have the DBson their heals

I think the kid showed good patience all preseason until the safety...and I have a feeling there was some sideline talk...."show me something" because most often there is the other talk....fair catch it....let it bounce into the endzone.

I think he is faster than Wallace..and definitely quicker than Wallace

I'd be really shocked if Moye and Dunn made it. I see it as one or the other. And why the 5th safety?

Yeah I agree, not sure how it was costly? Basically got a young former first rounder for a fourth stringer!
