Jamie Erdahl on the NFL Network said that Tomlin was closely watching Bryan Bresee's workout. After Bresee ran his forty Tomlin was heard to say "outstanding". Bresee at 6'6" 300 lbs ran a 4.86. It seems like he is certainly someone the Steelers have their eye on.

Assuming someone doesn't take him in the 1st, yes. We should take him at 32. Elite physical and athletic tools.

Are you talking about LB DJ Johnson out of Oregon? 6'4 260lbs?

Be curious to see where he goes, but he sounds pretty stiff. Only manage to crack the starting lineup at Oregon his Senior year. He will be 25 for for the 2023 season. 5th year transfer senior that set out 2020.

He is a freak on Paper, but is going to need a special coach to get results in the NFL.

Funny this link says TE. He did play some TE in college.

DJ JOHNSON LB/EDGE OREGON | NFL DRAFT PROFILE & SCOUTING REPORT

    UPDATE - 02/01/2023
While walking off the field at Reser Stadium following a tough loss to the Beavers, Ducks linebacker DJ Johnson appeared to punch an Oregon State fan in the back of the head before being dragged away from the situation by Oregon staffers. It's unclear if Johnson will face any discipline or if authorities will get involved.
This incident could seriously affect Johnson's draft stock, even if no action is taken against him as it surely displays an awful lack of discipline as a player.

Kiper really isn't a scout. He is a compiler. He has connections all over the country and he sorts through all that to create rankings. That was very useful 30-plus years ago when that information just wasn't available anywhere else, but not so much now.

Willis was benched. It became clear that he was thoroughly overmatched.

Jackson was better than "pretty good" in college. He won a Heisman Trophy.

you do realize the difference between a 4.43 and 4.39 is a blink of an eye. you really think that would drop a guy?

Not drop but raise a guy. Running a 4.3 something is special in terms of speed.

A 4.3 guy that is 6'3 and weighs 235 is something special that Draft fans like me will goes nuts for. I am definitely a 40 speed junkie when it comes to the NFL draft. Always 1st out of my mouth is "What is his 40 time".

Next up for me is Joey Porters 40 time today. Joey running a 4.4 something makes him a 1st round pick, Joey running a slow 4.5+ drops him to the 2nd round. (Blink of an Eye)

    So...
I don't look at just one year in college. I average them together.
Also...almost every Qb that has played under Bobby P....has had their best years under Him.
I say the same for a bunch of college players that had one really great year.
I have trouble with one year.
It's like Drew Sanders out of Arkansas. Some people have Him as number one LB....do You hear Me touting Him, and that My team, but I've only seen one year of Him, and I don't go out of My way on hyping one year of greatness.
It is what it is. I'm not downing Lamar Jackson's college football. He was pretty good.
Also Heisman means nothing to Me.
Hell I've seen not only Heisman trophy winners fail miserably in the NFL, but I've seen Heisman trophy winners not even be drafted.

I've seen Bresee rated all over the place from a top ten pick to late second round. His speed and physical size are amazing but it just hasn't clicked on the football field yet. I tend to be wary about guys like this.

Exactly....speed, and athletic ability are one thing, but like I was trying to explain with @Steel_Elvis ....I do believe that You must use the tape, and the combine together.....not one over the other.

I see Devon Witherspoon tweaked a hamstring and won't participate in the combine. I wonder if this might make him slip down to #17?

I am unsure of Bresee but he really does seem like the type of player they go after, High Pedigree who underperformed in College. Plus the need is there and Wiedl loves drafting for the trenches. He is a high character guy. Kind of reminds me of the TJ Watt situation when we drafted him. To many things seem to be lining up for this pick.

You can’t put it all on the 40. You have to look at the 40 and the other tests and measurable in the context of the guys tape and production. Look at Cambell. Highly productive but everyone questioned his athletic ability. He put those questions to rest yesterday and definitely improved his draft stock.

I doubt the Steelers are interested in Kancey, he's undersized and probably fits better in a 4/3 defense.

I don’t disagree that the combine has a role, but I think that the tape is much, much more important. These guys need to be football players first and foremost. Tape is king. That’s what I’ve learned in watching prospects for many years and then seeing how they perform at the next level.

I agree. I don't like him as much personally, but apparently Tomlin does. So, it won't surprise me.

I know, but I watched the combine and Pitt. And he has balled out on both fronts. He is a freak.
