I have a 12 year old who plays and loves Basketball. I take him to the park to shoot hoops often but I could never really get into the sport due to lack of talent and/or coordination. He enjoys watching the NBA and I'm not going to dissuade him from doing so. It's just never been my cup of tea. I do know that they are a leading advocate for political ideals and they are certainly losing a big fan base. Literally they are biting the hand that feeds them.

Lakers? What about the Doctor there in Philly? He was the original Jordan.

That's no excuse to be a Lakers fan, lol. I liked the 76ers & Celtics (until i met fans from Boston). Moses Malone for president!

    Hey Disco1981.

Long time my friend. I hope all is well. Yes, the NBA seems to being doing fine with "The Bubble" set-up. Several thoughts here.

Unfortunately, The Bubble concept would probably not work for the NFL for a number of reasons IMO. The "Containment Process" that The Bubble provides would just not be feasible with the NFL due to the number of people that would be involved which goes way beyond just the amount of players. In addition, the time commitment to it would also be unrealistic. As I started typing this I thought about what I just wrote here and decided to Web-search to see if similar considerations were already entertained. Sure enough they were, from ESPN. Below is an excerpt from that article that coincides with my thought processes. Below that is a link to the article.

    Source: ESPN

Article: No bubble for the 2020 NFL season? Why the league decided against it, what's next

"Indeed, a market bubble would require each team to house hundreds of employees -- players, coaches, medical officials and other staffers -- all day, every day for at least five months. It also would require intricate planning to accommodate game officials, many of whom have other jobs during the week, and others who are essential to travel and playing games in stadiums across the country. In theory, a market bubble would prevent everyone from coming into contact with the virus. In practice, the league and its players ultimately decided it was both undesirable and unrealistic in the structure of a 16-game season".

Continuing, I think that the NFL blew it by having no Preseason. By having Preseason the league in a sense would have done a Covid-19 "Dry Run" to see what a typical game situation, as well as for both before and after, would have looked like.

Now, it is an "all or nothing" scenario in a sense. VERY, VERY POOR PLANNING. Preseason would have provided the answers to a lot of questions surrounding what a season would look like considering the Covid-19. A whole Preseason would not even have to have been played. Let's say maybe a two-week/two game "trial". Now the League is going into the "for real" games with no clue as to what impact the Covid-19 is going to have. JUST BRILLIANT! Great foresight Mr. Goofdell and company. You talk about putting all your eggs into one basket. WOW! And Goofdell and company make how much money to make these decisions? What a joke. Nonetheless, given Goofdell's track record of other administrative decisions over his career as commissioner, I am not the least bit surprised.

In addition, on a secondary note, most likely there are going to be a number of injuries that may not have occurred if Preseason was played. We all know that the "play" in practice does not emulate real game situations. Also, the product for the first few games, or so, will probably be somewhat "sloppy" to say the least.

    Take care.
