I don't think I have, either. Glad to see the guy belongs in the league when playing with the 1's. It's more than I ever thought he would do, and that performance, that win, warrants the investment we put in him.

And that flannel shirt is epic.

Patience people. Patience. The kid has some ability.

He's certainly better than that no-talent, scumbag Vick.

Yeah it was hilarious. Phillip Rivers dresses like that too. I think he even wears those "bolo" ties or ever how you spell and say that. LOL.

I was all for landry being the number 2, even back in training camp, even the cardinals players said he was totally comfortable in this offense and he was the game changer.....

Patience before we all jump on the band wagon. I'm happy for the win and for Jones, but it was just part of one game. A nice part non the less.

Not a bandwagon but a reality. Vick is horrible, period. Jones came in and it was like the Offense came alive. He also didn't feed into the pouting of Antonio Brown. was posed, ice in his veins. Our newfound #2. Time to put the Vick out to pasture where he belongs...

Jones Jones and Jones unless Vick learns to throw a simple 7 yard slant then maybe allow him to attempt to make a play in practice but still we start Dr. Jones.

I also referred to him as Dr. Jones in the game thread. I invisioned this is what it must have been like for Palmer to witness the game sealing TD by Landry to Bryant! image.jpeg

When Jones first walked out there on the field I thought the Steel hull just hit the iceberg and the ship was sinking fast... then magic happened.
I guess Jones is the type that just doesn't play well during practice and pre-season scrimmage games, but kicks arse when his backs up against the wall during real world play. I knew a couple of guys that were like that during pop warner and high school.

Assuming we are talking Vick and Jones, then Jones. I liked the way he played Sunday and think he has potential. Just saying Sunday's performance was closer to a snipit than a career.

If you are talking Ben or Landry I would still say Landry. The Chiefs are 1-5 and their offense is putrid. Also Ben got hurt against them a couple of years ago already. I'd give Ben one more week to work on healing and then bring him back. I think Landry can get by them. What do you think?

Thats true, even the cards defensive players said they got caught flat footed when LJ came into the game because they didn't know anything about him, possibly just an excuse because it should have been clear to them after the 3rd quarter he is a pocket passer, and if ben doesn't start this week we will know more about landry after KC prepares for him...

I have never really been for or against Landry, but I will say that I liked the way he played. I don't think it was completely Vick's fault that he struggled, as I think the playcalling was really really bad with him in the game (possibly because Vick was slow picking up the playbook), but if Landry has a solid game against the Chiefs then I am completely fine with him being the new longterm backup to Ben.

Landry will not be the option to take over for Ben when Ben retires, but I think he can be a very solid backup to Ben.

Yes, totally agree. This should be a game we win being that most of our playbook is back and KC is struggling mightily on offense now. However, Arrowhead is hardly an easy place to play in and with their pass rush they could quickly bottle up our explosive offense. But let's let Ben rest one more week and see what Landry can do for a full 60. Could be a game where we realize how valuable Pouncey and Beachum are. Wallace vs Dontari Poe isn't something I like.

A couple of things. Vick was absolutely atrocious even though the play calling was dumbed down. I agree that LJ could be the long-term backup to Ben but I'm also convinced that he could develop into an effective starter. He has some good qualities. He's smart and has a strong arm and can read defenses. He sort of reminds me of Neil O'Donnell who, in spite of those two atrocious interceptions in the Super Bowl, was a pretty good starter for a few years for the Steelers. He knew how to distribute the ball to his playmakers and I can see Jones in that same mold.

I will gladly eat some crow on the Landry Jones issue. I thought he was beyond hope, but instead he gives us some hope. I actually think he may have made a quicker decision or two than Ben would have been made on a couple of those throws. The thought of him as a starter down the line to me is very unlikely unless Ben gets a career ending injury - i.e. Landry may not wait around as a backup if Ben indeed stays the Steelers starter for 4-5 more years.

But if this kid shines against KC - you may get some interest from other teams who may roll the dice on a QB in the off season and be willing to give up a 3rd round pick for Landry .... all of sudden he has market value! Even with that the Steelers would very likely balk as they see the value in having a guy who can be an effective backup and knows the offense.

The thing I loved about what Tomlin said most about Landry in the press conference on Sunday is he was prepared. And I also just loved the kid's reaction - there was nothing phony about it, he was a little shocked too and that is okay the giddy-ness of a 10 year old in winning on the big stage was refreshing to see.

Landry was like a little kid with his excitement at the press conference, playing the Chiefs will be tougher because they have a week to prepare for him.

The only reason - seriously, the one and only - I would start Ben if he's ready this week is because we all know how he is after a few game layoff - rusty and out of sync. I'd rather him flop against KC than against Cincy - we need the offense firing on all cylinders for that game. Give him this game to get his rhythm back.

I read a comment on one of the "Ben tries out kneebraces" articles.... guy was asking if he should start Landry this week on his fantasy team! I've never done a fantasy league but who in their right mind would put a 3rd string QB on their starting lineup (note: i'm not questioning landry starting for US this week!)
