As fans, we tend to fall in love with guys that size. But there's a reason they fall in the draft. Three of the "we have to have them" guys in the draft last year were Darnell Washington (late 3rd), Siaka Ika (late third), and Dawand Jones (early 4th). We got Washington, the Browns got Ika and Jones, and both were injured by the end of the year. Carrying that much weight isn't easy.

The NFL Network moved him up to the #45 player overall. So yes he definitely will go somewhere in the second after today.

Sweat numbers didn't move the needle at all for me, so I am not sure what you are talking about Sweat being in Bad shape. 366lbs actual compared to 362lbs Texas published rate after being off for 2 months isn't bad.. His 40 time is what you would expect from a 350+ pound guy. Sweat ran a 5.27, last years 350+ Dawand Jones ran a 5.35. Sweat's 1.8 10yard split, compared to Dawand's 1.92 10yard split

Why do you think Sweat showed up in bad shape? 5.27 / 1.80

Sweat was faster in the 40 and 10 yard than last years Siaka Ika at only 335lbs at the combine:
    Siaka Ika 5.39 / 1.88

Ika played in 5 games last year, had 0 tackles and one pass defensed. Are you sure that's the person you want to compare him to?

Give me some guys that weighed over 360lbs to compare Sweat's numbers too. Sweat's 5.27 / 1.80

Like I said, for me those numbers don't move my needle up or down for Sweat.

Your right he is 295 lbs. If you bring his name up it shows he is 288lbs in some overviews.

Steelers have many important decisions to make in these first 3 rounds, I would like see who they are targeting
in FA, that would clear up alot of draft questions concerning everybody's favorite players.

I thought Sweat would show up maybe 10-15 pounds lighter.

Like your thinking but they aren’t going to cut Larry O because to much of the contract is guaranteed.

Neither Murphy nor Donald fit the Steelers defense.

He was taken at 13, we picked at 15. Got Ryan Shazier at 15, and Stephon Tuitt at 46.

That's true. I got them mixed up. Even though this kid was a good #2 to Cam Smith

Its not gong to happen. Tomliin doesn’t not value big NT’s. He loves it when are Inside Linebackers have to fend for themselves against Offensive Lineman. I don’t know how many times you have to see our Inside Linebackers getting sealed off on play for a big run against us to change your mind on this but apparently it hasn’t happened enough yet.

    Its not going to happen.

Very few teams value true traditional NT’s anymore. Tomlin in particular does not favor these type of guys. In addition we already got our NT last year in Keanu Benton. Third the guy just got a DUI which shows the guy lacks discipline and poor choice making. You think that will reflect on his ability to keep his weight under control through out his career if can’t even obtain from partying or drinking this close to the draft? These types and this position in particular tends to slide in the draft and now with the DUI I can definitely see this guy sliding to day 3. If the Steelers want to take a flyer on him there Would be thrilled but I highly doubt he is or ever was a consideration for them because Tomlin values more athletic smaller types. I however would love if he went after the bigger types to clog up the run lanes and push the pocket.

The 3rd are you kidding me. This guy will drop to 5th at least. He plays a position that has been phased out of the game which traditionally causes these guys to drop on draft day. There were already question marks about his conditioning and weight and now you add the DUI. The guy is a massive risk no pun intended.

If he dropped to their 4th rd pick it would be good value, move Benton to DT.
