Temp check. Should the Steelers Move on From Tomlin?

  1. It's Time Now. Don't waste time and start the hunt for our next coach Early as possible!

  2. Give him one more year.

  3. I'm not ready to see him go yet.

I'm curious to see where we are as far as fans wanting, to move on or keep him at this point. I know he has his defenders but it seems like they are becoming less and less. Personally, I think it's been time.

Art II needs to visit with Heyward and Watt. Ask them about Tomlin, the X's and O's football coach, and not about the man he is.

I agree, but I'd put the year closer to 2011.

Poll is pointless. I voted the same way as everyone else did but the morons running the organization will continue to support the puppet on the sideline. The players will continue to say what a great guy he is and the fans will continue to show up. See y’all on draft day.

They were both drafted by the Steelers. What head coach would they compare him to? Ask people like Queen or someone that has been on multiple teams. Especially if they played on a good team like the chiefs or lions

To be clear I always thought Tomlin underachieved with the killer bees and Ben. When I say I've been through with Tomlin it's been a long time. However there has been a huge percentage of the fan base that wants to hold on. I'm just trying to see if there is still that sentiment at all. If there's any significant portion of the fan-based that still thinks it's a good idea to keep this guy around. Trust me I'm not late to the party, I was one of the first ones cracking a beer and raising a toast.

The best time to fire him was 7-10 years ago.

The second best time is immediately.

    https://www.si.com/nfl/adam-schefter-weighs-mike-tomlin-future-with-steelers-after-loss-ravens

ESPN's Adam Schefter addressed the situation Sunday morning, saying one team did reach out to the Steelers recently about Tomlin but were told the coach has a no-trade clause in his contract. Schefter also said there is no indication that the franchise is looking to move on from Tomlin, who has been the team's head coach since 2007.

"Anything that would happen in Pittsburg involving Mike Tomlin would come with his consent and his consent only," Schefter said of a possible trade for the coach. "A loss like last night’s might further teams to look into it. Pittsburgh hasn’t given any indication it wants to move on from Mike Tomlin and this has been the most patient franchise not just in football, but maybe sports. When Bill Cowher was struggling at the end and fans in Pittsburgh wanted him gone, the Rooneys stuck with him and he wound up winning another Super Bowl. There’s no indication this franchise wants to move on from Mike Tomlin right now. But this is an organization right now that is going to have to address some issues in the offseason."

This. We've held on for too long, and we've reaped the fruits of inaction.

I don't expect us to do anything drastic. Unless Rooney decides that he has had enough (unlikely), we will roll with the same staff, 95% of the same players, and we will all be sitting here this time next year moaning about another wild card beat down.

I was one that never liked his hiring in the beginning so of course I think it's time to move on. I think he was just the early beneficiary of Bill Cowher's team and he is not the first or last coach to do that. Barry Switzer did it in Dallas after Jimmy Johnson. Jon Gruden did it in Tampa after Tony Dungy. It happens. I never wanted Tomlin, but I am just a fan and my wants and desires mean nothing to the person doing the hiring.

There's only a few Tomlin acolytes left and they have mostly mysteriously left the board since last night...

I'm wanting to take my 9 year old son to his first game next year, but I don't know if I can. What's the point if it's not an enjoyable experience for me.
I have no problem supporting losing teams. The Maple Leafs are my team. They are perennial losers, but they at least try to win. They draft guys, they sign guys in free agency, they fire coaches and GM's when it's time. They do everything they can to win. The Steelers aren't even trying. They keep doing the same thing over and over again and expect different results. I can't support that.

It seems silly maybe that I can't enjoy a Steelers game with my son, but it's gotten that bad for me. I'm very principled. The Vick experiment made me want to puke. Tomlin on the field trying to interfere with the Ravens players made me literally hate him as a coach and as a person. All the character issues that Tomlin ignores. I can't spend $1000+ to go to an environment where I don't truly enjoy the experience.

We need to absolutely blow this thing up and start over, we need to forget the playoffs, that's a mirage with this current team, and start getting comfortable with a tank/rebuild.

So let's approach this from a different angle. We're always blaming MT, the OC, the DC, the players for being pretenders, not having heart. The owners. Yadda yadda. Some or all of which may be true.

But what part do the local media (sportswriters, more specifically) play in all of this? Not that I would ever want to be like NYers, but there's a major difference between how they approach criticisms of their teams vs how we do it. I mean seriously - our writers go "near the edge" but pull back with "Sorry Mike, we love you, let me hug you while I offer up this criticism". The softball questions during pressers are an absolute joke and only solidify the Rooneys' position that MT is the man for the job, still.

Can you imagine the headline today in a NY paper if this team was theirs? "Steelers B-slapped in the playoffs.. AGAIN. Tomlin Sucks"

Again, I'm not saying we should be that brash. But would it kill our local writers to adopt even a little of that salt and vinegar in their assessments of our team, most notably MT?

If you truly believe that the Rooneys pay attention to anything a bunch of know-it-alls on a message board say, you're kidding yourself. We don't have the voice. No, if they do listen to anyone, and that's debatable, it's the media - local, and to some extent the national. They've got the voice, they're the ones that need to call out this crap in order for it to have an effect. Otherwise, it's the same old song and dance next year, and we're all wasting our time and energy getting worked up over something we have no voice in.

    Just my $.02

It is all just a mis-understanding , Mike thought we were hiring a PR , we thought we were hiring a H.C and the fans are buried in the ensuing surplus of b.s year after year.

My son is 17 and I have been taking him to an away game ever year since about your son’s age. Win or lose we always have a great time. This year is looking like it will be Chicago. My wife is bummed that they are not playing near a sunny beach somewhere.

I really feel like it would be beneficial for both the Steelers and Tomlin to part ways sooner rather than later. By making the decision now, Tomlin has a lot of options where he can go and the Steelers still have top candidates to interview and potentially get.

I just don't know how Tomlin should keep his job after yet another playoff disaster. If it were only the last 2 seasons that have been a problem, I could see defending him, but we're looking at 10 years of this clown show. That said, I will be SHOCKED if anything happens. As everyone says "The Steelers don't fire coaches".
