    Ta'amu suspended

For 2 weeks without pay, no way the team was going to release him like some fans suggested.

Sorry, but the engineer in me can help but interject.

Freak is posting Blood alcohol values in g/l or roughly parts per thousand, not in % (parts per hundred) as is common in the USA.
    So 1.96 g/l = .196%

I'm guessing, as is true of many things, different parts of the world measure blood alcohol in diferent units.

But that's still two and a half times the legal limit. Alright, Mr. Engineer, how much alcohol is that for a 350 pound man?

This sounds a lot like "which weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of lead?" :D

    Depends on how long he was drinking. 24 beers in 3 hours = .189. 26 beers in 4 hours = .192. 28 beers in 5 hours = .195.

Somebody said they know someone who saw him do 30 shots. Not sure how someone would know that unless he paid for them or they were all lined up on the bar together and they counted them. If I'm out boozing it up, I don't count my drinks let alone someone else's.

Yeah, thats about right, I found a Blood Alcohol Content Calculator on the internet. But the most 'wieight' it let you enter is 240lbs. But I used 120 lbs, 3 hrs and 8 beers and it calculated a BA of .18, so factor it up by 3, and a 360 lb guy would have to down a case in 3hrs.

I like my brew and I'm not a small guy (though a good way from 350lbs), but that is a lot of beer.

Nerdy ass response of the evening. "which weighs more, a pound of feathers or a pound of gold?"
The right answer is a pound of feathers, because gold is measured in 12-oz pounds, while feathers are measured in 16-oz pounds.
Bet you didn't expect to learn that on thesteelersfans.com??

I like my beer too AFan but no way I'm throwing down a case in 3 hours. Not even when I was 270 pounds.

I avoided gold in hopes of circumventing nerdy ass responses. ;-)

Kidding of course. You never know what you might learn here. :lolol:

I believe the generic esitmate is .02 for every beer or shot consumed in an hour. That is the same for how much on average the body gets rid of so if he consumed ten beers in one hour he would generically be 0.8 as he would process .02. Any way you shape it the DUI wasn't the worst crime, the lack of commons sense in his decision making after he was caught was. Instead of beer gogles this idiot lost his mind and sense of reason (If he had it sobor). Because he was drunk he wasn't able to make the right decisions. He comitted felonies (Which most drunk peoeple don't do) and screwed his life up.

I met this kid on a call at his cousions apartment just prior to them leaving for Latrobe (Yes them he took his family). It was loud music and drinking nothing unusual there when celebrating like they should have. I was really hoping that he was going to make it big as he lived in the city I work for. Instead he showed he is a Radier or Raven but not a Steeler.

As for this being Tomlins fault it's not. It's not the teams fault it's not the orgaziontions fault, It's his. When this idiot is convitcted and he is released from prison hopefgully he does soemthing but he is not and he never was a Steeler (That is earned and you can't fo that when you don't play).

Bring him to Arizona so he can stay at Shreriff Joe Arpaio's "tent city" and wear pink under wear and work on his chain gang picking up trash on the highways and byways and eat green bologna sandwiches :roflmao:

Well, is that the end of the story then? Saunders got suspended 4 games...Steelers kept him on the roster and then released him once the suspension was over.

I think time will tell what they really decide to do here....

    WOW!!! :o
I Don`t even know where to start with this...
At least he didn`t kill any dogs?!?!?...
I`m trying, but I can`t even joke about this one...
I have no room to throw stones, because I have done plenty of dumb things in my life. Made PLENTY of mistakes, and SOME of them could have easily led to innocent people being killed, just like this kid`s mistake could have.
And obviously, the NFL is big on second chances, or Vick wouldn`t be in the league.
I`ve had my second chances, too, or I wouldn`t be a free to discuss this on a message board...
    but...
I just don`t think it should matter how good he could play for us.
I know we need a new nosetackle, and it`s a good thing that we have McClendon, at the moment, becuase I think "`Moo", just threw his future away.
Not saying he shouldn`t have a second chance, but he should damn sure have to do his time, like anyone else who wasn`t an NFL prospect, or celebrity, would have to.
If "Joe Blow", tried to run over cops, after hitting parked cars, while he went the wrong way on a downtown street, trying to avoid arrest, and then got out of the truck , and resisted arrest, when the cops finally caught up with him...
He would be looking at a long time in jail.
I don`t think that should be any different for this kid, just because he was a high draft pick of my favorite team...
Or just because he might be a celebrity with money to hire some great lawyers...
    HE ****ED UP!!!! BADLY!!!
Like I said... I am NOT one to judge... I`ve screwed up plenty in my life, but, I only learned to do better, by facing the consequenses of my actions...
And, if all the guy did, was smoke some pot, or take a "banned substance", that would be different...
HE put lives at risk, and tried to fight the cops, when he finally was caught...
That does NOT fit in with the actions of a "Steeler"...
And I have no problem with the Rooney`s sending him down the road, and looking for someone else to replace Hampton/McClendon... In fact, I would applaud them for it!
The other thing I wondered was if we somehow missed a "red flag", in our scouting process. We very rarely take chances on anyone who shows tendencies to do something like this, but from what I read earlier in this thread, he looked pretty good, except for possibly one incident in the past...
I dunno... I wanted to puke, when I heard what he did.
Wrecking a bike, or smoking a joint, is one thing...
Just, bad judgement, or whatever... but this blew my mind... I couldn`t believe we would draft someone, with this kind of reckless disregard of his fellow citizens in the `Burgh... :bscow:   :eek!:  :bye: :noose:

The Steelers have reinstated Ta'amu from suspension, and have until 4PM Wed. to make room on the roster for him.

They should have suspended him indefinitely pending an "investigation." That would give them more time to decide what to do with this clown, and give the legal system time to work itself out
