I'm inclined to agree with this Hack. He will need to suffer the consequences of his actions and then we'll see where he winds up. I agree with second chances and believe in redemption and forgiveness. But like I said before, with consequences and accountability. It will not be an easy road to hoe so we will see what this young man is all about. He has got to leave the firewater alone. I hope he can overcome himself.

I found a calculator online and it estimated that a 350 pound guy that had 20 beers in 3 hours would be at .181. This clearly wasn't a case of just having a few too many.

I don't understand these idiot players that drink and drive anyway. The NFL (or maybe it's the teams, I don't know) provides a car service to these morons, not to mention they are all rich and can easily afford a cab, yet they drink and drive anyway. If I can afford a cab making what I make, these guys can afford their own damn cab service. it doesn't even make sense to drive drunk when you have a free car service available to you, and when you can easily afford a cab. It's just dumb.

I'm pretty sure it's the NFL that provides the service THROUGH the teams.

On another note - I agree with those who say that the Steelers will give him a second shot. However, they may not even get a chance. Think about it. He's charged with 15 separate counts. Many of these are FELONIES. Further some of the felonies were for actions against the police. The justice system does not look kindly on those who commit crimes against cops. He may be serving some time before the Steelers even get a chance to give him another shot. And - by that time, it may be too late for him.

Tomlin just announced that Ta'amu is suspended for two games without pay and is banned from the facility during that time. Added that what happened was a "detriment to our efforts and we're treating it as such".

Not like he was playing this year anyway, whatever time he serves, he'll be out before the start of next season. As long as it doesn't get tied up in courts until then.

Even an early guilty plea can take a year. There's no way he's sentenced and out of jail before the start of next season, absolutely no chance, unless he outright beats most of those charges

maybe he figured since he wasnt get any playing time he needed another way to blow of some steam.

how about they let these young guys play and maybe they wont get into trouble off the field and if they do then atleast you know if they are worth the headache.

Assault and battery will get you a 2 year sentence here, nothing he did is as severe as that. And by the time they whittle everything down, You're probably looking at a DWI and reckless driving. He's not going to be severely punished, don't kid yourself. He's also a first time offender which will lighten any sentence. I really won't be surprised if he doesn't do any time at all. Could end up on probation and a bunch of community service, plus his license is automatically revoked. And he'll get the crap sued out of him by the person he injured and for the property damage.

I heard he was clean as a whistle and that this is very surprising to everyone. Also, he was super drunk, any defense attorney will beat the "he swerved at them" freaking guy was wasted.

(Had to edit this, I looked it up, he did have an incident in 2009, minor compared to this but still won't help)

Why couldn't this be Ike, Mundy and Lewis getting busted for taking turns driving while drinking?

could've gotten rid of 3 problems, for the price of 1 big one :shots:

Are any of you old enough to remember Ernie (Arrowhead ) Holmes? Did the Steelers
get rid of him? How about Silverback ***** slapping his old lady? Did they get rid of them?
The real question is can the kid play? The Steelers will answer this in about two weeks, If they think
he can make a contribution to the team they will keep him. Live in the real world people.
Its all about the money Homey's.

Yeah, he had trouble from a previous incident when he was in Washington. ~

The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reported earlier that court records show that Ta'amu also was charged with driving under the influence in October 2011 for an incident that occurred Dec. 12, 2009, when Ta'amu was playing for the University of Washington.

Trooper Joe Gannon of the Washington State Patrol wrote in a report that he stopped Ta'amu for driving 73 mph in a 60 mph zone on Interstate 5 about 3:40 a.m. and "smelled an odor of alcohol coming from him and ... observed his blood-shot watery eyes."

Police said Ta'amu, who was 19 at the time of the Washington arrest, blew a 0.097 and 0.098 on breath tests and told them he drank six Budweisers in three hours before he attempted to drive home in a 1993 Chevrolet Suburban.

Prosecutors initially charged him with driving under the influence, but he instead later pleaded guilty to negligent driving, for which he was sentenced to one day in a community-work program and ordered to pay a $350 fine.
