Pretty hard to imagine the Steelers taking the "We'll stand behind a find young man, who made a mistake" line here. If the reports are even remotely true.

I don't think the Steelers have a choice but to release this guy, even if they don't want to. They will alienate fans if they don't dump this guy.

Oh yeah, it could be a WHOLE lot worse. That could have been Heath Miller.

Even if he was sentenced to 3 years, he'd be out after 1. I know that report reads ugly but he isn't getting 3 years for it.

Up here he'd probably get 2-3 years for that, but you're right, likely out after 1/3rd. Still, that's a significant time away from the game for a 4th round pick. While I'm sure he'll get another shot, it wouldn't be shocking if this ended his career.

If you look at this draft class it would seem it lacks "class". Adams was a pot head. Rainey threatened to kill his girlfriend. Now this bum pulls a stunt like this. Maybe you can say what Adams did is not really that big of a deal and I understand that some people don't think of that as too much to worry about but it just seems that this league as a whole is becoming one big thug fraternity. Guys like Heath are going the way of the dinosaur. Tomlin SERIOUSLY needs to get control of this team and put the fear in these guys. But I really think for that to happen the Rooney's need to put the fear in Tomlin. Since Tomlin took this team we've had numerous incidents with player behaviour. Najeh Davenport got in trouble in 07. Santonio got in trouble. Ben got in trouble. Jeff Reed got in trouble. Hines got in trouble. It's time for Tomlin to give up this "players coach" act and get some Tom Coughlin in him! I understand you shouldn't have to babysit grown men but there's no law that says you have to hire them. There needs to be behaviour clauses in people's contracts. I think that's the only thing that would really put the fear in people.

No way he doesn't do time. Might as well cut him loose.

I never understand what people are thinking when they do crap like this.

He's looking at a suspension I don't think they should cut him yet let the legal system play out.

Yikes. When I read DUI I thought, "Well that sucks, but this was a redshirt year anyway. No biggie and no reason to cut him." But then after seeing the other charges, and then reading the description from TTF... There's no way he doesn't go to jail for this. And while the Steelers aren't as clean cut as people think and will allow a certain amount of off-the-field problems from players, especially players that matter, I can't imagine them putting up with something like this, regardless of how much jail time he gets. Even if he managed to not get any at all.

What a shame. Even though he clearly wasn't ready to play in the NFL yet, he was still a great prospect and a great draft pick. A major part of what made last year's draft so awesome. A big need steal. Now he's done here, and depending on what he does from here on out and in jail, he might be done everywhere.

I was going to add that Tomlin has lost control of this team; however, that would be an incorrect statememt because Tomlin has never had control of this team. The offenses are clearly all on Taamu but there just doesn't seem to be any discipline around here.

Has he had any issues like this prior to this incident? If not...while I may be in the minority...I do not think the right move would be to cut him and ship him out on his own. Yes thats a big list of charges/etc...and we do not know what the end result will be. While its not the Steeler way and all that BS...work with the kid...have good people around him and so on so he doesnt make this mistake again. If something happens again that might be another story...but I do not think they should just can him now.
