super bowl field painting

seeing the flub of the field being painted wrong got me thinking. I know the afc is the home team in even number and nfc in odd number. do they have a guideline for as like the home teams endzone was always on the left if you were watching on tv and road on the right which seemed to hold true but now it has seemed to switch. anybody have an idea?

 

Not sure of the answer to your question but all I can think of is that old commercial (was it for Campbell Chunky Soup????) where they painted the Kansas City Chefs in the end zone and that old geezer said when he realized the mistake: "Great googly moogly......".
