How is the DC a dud?
LoL. We have given up the league least amount of points of any team that has played 8 games.

Bosworth just appeared out of a time warp after being launched 37 years into the future by Bo Jackson.

Btw,our backup punter deserve a honorable mention in studs....Much better that Harvin.I don't think he had a bad punt this year.Harvin had like one bad punt every game!

I'd add Donte Jackson to studs.

After seeing STDs comment in another thread, add Corliss Waitman to the list for me too...at the very least honorable mention. He's been great and had a good punt at the end of the game last night.

Yes in spite of ourselves. We could be so much better on defense.

Im not fully sold on Jackson. He has been ok. He isn’t good at press man or man coverage in general. It really hurts us when we blitz because its his guy they often target to negate our blitz. He also struggles against bigger receivers down field. I would still love to see another press man cover corner on the outside opposite of JPJ.

#2 defense you put DC on there

That destroyed the last dregs of credibility you had

I think there is some level of credibility to putting him in duds though... It's been mentioned a few times around the league that our defense runs one of the most vanilla scheme of any defense in the league, we've let a number of bad offenses gain yards on us with ease, it lost the Dallas game on the field when it mattered, and Minkah Fitzpatrick still doesn't have a pick since Teryl Austin has taken over. The defense has seemingly gotten worse as the year has gone on... if we don't have TJ bail us out with a sack/turnover, then the pressure needs to generate a bad throw/pick. The defense feels like a very OK one that is #2 in takeaways. We have a good amount of "special" players on our defense and the best pass rush personnel grouping in the league. The defense should be doing better than it has. I think our numbers are just a bit inflated from going against a number of teams early in the year that struggle offensively.

Washington could hang 40 on us after the bye if we don't get to Daniels early and often. It doesn't look or feel like the #2 defense in the league the last month. It certainly doesn't mean that it can't improve... but the recent returns have been underwhelming.

Yeah,I am not a fan of Austin, our DC....We can win by talent when we face weak offense, but against elite offense and in the playoffs it take the talent and scheme and the steelers defense are too vanilla....Our schedule will be tougher in the second half and this is a reason why our defense have been so bad in the playoffs in the last 5 playoffs....can't let the stats fool you again!

Must admit when we got Queen I was pumped. Now I think the Ravens knew something. He can redeem himself by laying DJ out when we play them.

Well of course we could my Friend, but I still wouldn't call the DC a dud with 4th in total yards, 1st in points, and 2nd in turnovers with any teams that has played 8 games. That's far far far from bad

Well I know He has nothing to do with it, but since He left them.....they went from a 1st rank D to not very good at anything.

I would pick this all apart,,but it's a waste. You people see what You want. Fields is better than Russell Wilson, Warren is better than Najee, Moore sucks, and now the Number one D in points allowed 2nd in turnovers, 4 th in overall yards with teams that's played 8 games....isn't good. LoL....
Because they allowed a Dallas team to score 20 points at the very last of a game. How about We score more than 17 , and we wouldn't have to had worried about it.

I personally haven't watched Peyton Wilson as closely since the first few games. I do remember someone stating he should rotate more with Roberts in yesterday's game thread. He doesn't seem to be making the same impact he was earlier on but as I said, I haven't been watching him closely.

Our offense were not good vs Dallas but the defense were not much better in that game too....over 450 offensive yards for the cowboys in that game, season high for them....Thank god they have a awful red zone offense all year long....Same thing for the Giants...almost 400 offensive yards last night but they have also a awful red zone offense....Richarson of the colts, who is now their backup had a huge start vs us,they were up 14-0 after 2 drives before he has been hurt

Outside of the red zone defense who are great and turnovers, the steelers defense need to improve big time because since the colts game, they have not been good and it was against weak competition and the competition will be much better after the bye....Need to be more aggressive on defense(they had only blitz 17% of the time before last night who was the lowest in the NFL) and have more man to man defense, better against the run and the screen....The opposing QB have too many quick easy throw in the last few week

The defense were amazing first 3 games but not the case since that time....can't always live or die on turnovers and red zone defense and we will gave up over 30 points in a playoffs game once again

Or the supposed ELITE defense could've just, you know, not given up the game winning TD against a bad team in the final seconds? That too. If you're going to hype them up when they do good, that is fine, just make sure you criticize them when they do bad. The defense has done a lot of good, but are pretty much solely responsible for the Colts loss and gave up the game losing TD to Dallas in the final seconds.

Look, I am not picking apart anything, nor am I trying to say the defense is bad. I am saying that the defense hasn't LOOKED or FELT like an elite defense the past 4-5 games. It is hard to argue that point. Yes, we have some nice looking stats, but you would expect us to have good numbers when we've played 7/8 of our games against below average to awful offenses. The second best offense we've faced just benched their QB for performance.... In 4 of the last 5 games our defense has given up more yards than that offense has in average YPG. So essentially, they performed better against our defense than they did on average the rest of the year. Its a bad trend, because the defense looked really good the first 3 weeks but really have been just ok the past 5 weeks.

They're gonna get a shot to redeem themselves against Washington. Daniels makes that offense a pretty good one... certainly the best we've faced all year. We face the Bengals x2, Ravens x2, the Eagles, Chiefs, and Commanders at the end of our schedule. That is 7 contests against top 11 offenses in the NFL at the halfway point. Going to be a different test than the first 8.

LoL. Do You even remember when we were 1st in points allowed???
I'm supposed to be worried about a Ravens team that we have handled without a team as good as we have, and a Ravens team that has lost to the Raiders, and the Browns, a Washington team that only beat the Giants by 3 points, and hasn't beaten anyone, and has a rookie Qb, the Bengals who has a great Qb, but their D is actually really terrible. Yes we will lose games . It happens, but I'm not blaming the D for it right now. We've given one game of over 20 points....against a past SB Mvp that we didnt practice for, gameplan for, or scout for, and that is night, and day different than the Qb we actually did that all for.

    Bishop - 27 targets
    Jackson - 26 targets
    Porter - 20 targets

Seems they are fairly equally picked on.

I just said they need to be much better on defense because yes they can be better in some situations.Last 5 games, they had some good moments but also some bad moment....The steelers rely too much on talent on defense but against better offense we need better scheme too
