    You have ever been to.....Mine
    @Buffalo 9/30/2001
It was the first NFL weekend since the 9/11 attacks.A beautiful fall day about 50 degrees, sunny, perfect football day. Before the game hundreds of military, police, fire and emts were honored on field.Standing ovation for 10 minutes and was it loud!!!

National Anthem was played and you could hear a pin drop. When it was over another long and loud standing ovation.Tens of thousands of STEELER fans Terrible Towel in one hand,American flag in the other. The few thousand Bills fans on hand did their part as well!!!

It was a great day to be a American and one I will not forget!!!

OH and the Bus ran for 100+ and STEELERS won 20-3.

    2008 AFCCG against the Ratbirds.

Nosebleed seats surrounded by Rats. My brother-in-law and sister left when the Ratbirds got the ball with us leading 16-14. Superstition ruled their motives. Everytime they went to the bathroom during the game something good happened for us, so... they were on the ferry listening to the place erupt after #43's pick six sealed the deal.

Me, I was waving my towel wildly amongst all those Rats. :yahoo:

It is hard to select just one going to the games here in Baltimore every year... So, I selected three...

#1 I was at one of the first Baltimore Raisins/ Pittsburgh Steelers games in Baltimore. (I think it was at Memorial Stadium if I recall. It is hard to tell at my age.) I believe the Raisins were up at halftime by somewhere in the neighborhood of 28-7 and the Steelers came back and won! I was abused so much the first half by "courteous Baltimore fans" but by the dramatic ending, there were only Steelers fans standing and cheering "Here We Go...!" I wonder where everyone else went?

#2... When the new Baltimore stadium opened there were so many black-n-gold fans there waving their towels that by the next year they painted all of the seats purple to try to look like there were more Baltimore fans there then there really were.

#3 I was also at the game in Baltimore when Ben Roethlisberger came in at halftime in his first NFL appearance and I just remember feeling at that moment that he had so much poise. I knew then we were going to win a lot of games!

My most memorable games were the 3 AFC playoff games the Steelers won in 2005 - Cleveland/Indy/Denver. I watched them all on TV & loved how we dominated all of them, even though it took a great defensive play by Ben to seal the Indy win. I wish we dominated now like we did then.

It would have to be watching the immaculate reception game with my older brother who was a HUGE Raider fan at the time. He and Madden can't get over it!

    Gotta go way back....SB XIII

This is when the "America's Team" crap started. Not to mention Hollywood Henderson calling out Bradshaw's ability to spell CAT.

Steeler's put the wood to them and the only reason it was close was due to a nap the Steelers took at the 6 minute to go mark and the fact that the Cowboys recovered that onside kick. Pure luck.

Of course, after the game, the Cowboys chorus of Johnny Cash's "Cry, Cry, Cry" could be heard for weeks, years and now decades. Out of their wailing, specifically Golden(boy) Richards and Henderson's tears, came the Mel Blount rule. And that folks is why you cain't touch da receivers today.....

I think TB was at his best at that time.

The only sad thing about that game was The Chief was in a elevator going down to the locker room to console his team. Our Founding Father missed the best play in franchise and NFL history.

    Re: Most memorable STEELER game..

I don't get to attend many games in person. :(

Worse yet, I've had HORRIBLE luck at many of the games I got to go to. I think the Steelers actually have a losing record for games that I attend. :frustrated:

So I don't have a ton of really memorable games that I attended, but 3 in particular come to mind:

    1) When I was in the USAF stationed in Georgia, I got tickets to see them play the Falcons in Atlanta. The game wasn't all that exciting (at least we won 20-17). What was memorable was driving into Atlanta, turning onto the street leading to the Georgia Dome, and seeing nothing but a sea of Black and Gold. We felt like we made a wrong turn and somehow ended up in Pittsburgh. I'd wager that Steeler fans outnumbered Falcon fans at least 5-1. It was so overwhelmingly in favor of Steeler fans (including crowd noise), that as we were driving out of the stadium after the game, we flipped on the local sports radio to listen to post game. They were talking to one of the Falcons players and said something like "Lost a tough, close one." To which he replied "Yeah, but it's always tough trying to win on the road." :roflmao:

    2) I was in Jacksonville on a MNF game where we could have tied the game at the end with a FG, but a bad snap/hold had the kick bounce off our own lineman. Watching in horror as the Jags are running it back for a TD, for a second, it looked like Cowher was going to pull a Woody Hayes. Now, THAT would have been memorable. As it stands, it's only memorable for the crushing feeling.

So probably my favorite game I attended was the AFC divisionals against the Jets in 2004. The Jets are looking to win it with a FG. My wife is trying to drag me out of the stands so we could beat traffic. Forgive her, she's not a real football fan. I told her absolutely not. "He's going to miss." Half of the stands were empty by then, but she relents and waits to see the kick with me. When he missed, it looked like Heinz Field became a volcano spewing black and gold lava back into the stands! :roflmao:

Sadly, that's the last time I've been present to see them win. don't get me started on the Patsies. I've decided NEVER to attend another Pats game... especially an AFC Championship. Twice burned, twice shy. :blackeye: :banghead: :blackeye:

Yes I know about a half a billion people will say they were at 3 Rivers for Franco's immaculate reception, but I along with my dad, brother and another friend actually were there (albeit way up high). I have our tickets framed and hanging on my office wall. Can't believe they actually tore them in half back in those days!

P.S. My first post on the new board. I was banned from the old one over a year ago and was never able to get re-instated or allowed to re-register. Have been regularly keeping up with everything since then as a "guest" but couldn't post. Glad to be able to speak up again!

That's a great idea! In fact I was just looking in the FAQ about how to create an avatar. If you or anyone else can clue me in, I'll do that! Thanks for the suggestion.

Just take a pic with your digital camera and download the pic to a file in your computer. Then click on User Control Panel under the Board Index at top left of the screen. Then follow the edit avatar directions. Should be snappy! :drinks:

    Re: Most memorable STEELER game..

I have to list 3 games that I was lucky to be at:

#1 Superbowl XIV at the end of the 1979 season Vs the Rams... This was my 1st time seeing the Steelers in person.
#2 Superbowl XXX at the end of the 1995 season Vs the Cowboys.... damn you Neil O'Donnell !!!!
#3 1000th home game for the Steelers on Oct 26, 2003 Vs the Rams.. This was the 1st time I traveled and attended a Steelers home game in Pittsburgh. To bad they lost 21-33.
One of the best parts about this day was the buddies I was with. We rented a motor home for the round trip from Peoria,IL. I was the designated driver for about 15 people who partied in the back. While in shock realizing I was just outside of Heinz Field tailgating, some of my buddies disappeared. Right as I was about to go on my search, to buy my ticket from a scalper, my buddies showed up and handed me my game ticket!! They all got together and bought me a seat in the corner of the endzone, 3 rows from the players tunnel. I WAS BLOWN AWAY!!!!

    Re: Most memorable STEELER game..

I`ve only been able to go to a few, live, and unfortunately, my most memorable wasn`t even one of the three I`ve been to at Heinz...
My first game there, against the Falcons, was AWESOME, just because it was my first live game in the Burgh, but we played to a tie, in overtime, so it coulda been better! ;)
My MOST memorable, was when my g.f. got us tickets to the opening day game at Browns stadium, and we CRUSHED them 41-3!!!
I live in Akron, so it was a short trip to the game.
Tailgated with the Clown fans, With her son(a Clown`s fan), and some of his friends.
Wearing my "Cleveland STILL sucks! Feel the Pittsburgh Steel!", Tee-Shirt, Steeler Hat, and Terrible Towel!
We jumped on them from the opening kickoff, getting an interception on their first possesion, blocking their first punt, watching them get stupid penalties at a ridiculous pace... we were up something like 28-3 at halftime, when I got kicked out of the stadium for smoking in the bathroom!
Yeah, an open air stadium, that cigarette taxes helped fund, but didn`t even have a designated smoking area!
(Maybe my shirt had something to do with not getting a "warning?)...
Anyhow, the security guard was nice enough to escort me back to my seat, first, so I could let my girl know I was getting kicked out, and get the keys to the car...
With the cooler still semi-full of beer, on ice, in the trunk! :D
So... I got to sit in the car, and listen to the rest of the game on the radio, drinking FREE beer, instead of 7 bux a glass...
While watching their "Faithful", come pouring out of the stadium by the end of the 3d quarter, `cause it was raining and they were getting KILLED!!! :roflmao:
Yeah, I did more than my fair share of "taunting", and not one of them did a damn thing about it!!!!
The best part was watching a steady stream of screaming, happy Black-n-Gold fans pour out of THEIR stadium at the end!
    PRICELESS!!! :yahoo: :clapping: :drinks:

    Re: Most memorable STEELER game..

This one goes back a bit but I'll post it anyway. My dad was a cab driver. We did not have much money but I loved the Steelers. When I was eight years old and after he would take me to Pitt Stadium. He would wait until the game started and then pull the cab up to the gate and talk to the ticket takers. He would ask them to let me in to stand by the aisle or take an empty seat.

It worked the first time. I was amazed to walk in and see the Cleveland Browns on the field. I had no idea the uniforms looked so neat in person and how fast the players were. I went back to the gate a couple of times to tell him what was going on.

He gave me a couple of bucks for a hot dog and a drink. It was a memorable experience for me.
